Free 3 night vacation for listening to a presentation.

I went to a sporting event, and there was a booth there that says they are giving away 3 nights stay to all these different popular tourist cities. They asked me if I made $50,000 a year, and I told them I would not give them that info. In order to get the free vacation, including airline, lodging, and rental car if needed, I have to go to a presentation regarding timeshares. Is this a scam where once I get to my destination, they will not let me leave without buying something? All I need is to be stuck in Cancun or Las Vegas, say no to their shtick, and then all of the sudden, I am paying for the whole trip out of my pocket. Anyone done this? How did it work out for you?
