IMVU seriously is a corrupt setup. Originally when I had my first issue with IMVU I thought it would be handled easily like other sites do. I filed a useless Ticket and never got a response. I figured it didn't mail right so I ignored it. I stopped using IMVU 3D Chat itself and only used the web IMVU because my net book couldn't handle it. Being only on the web based IMVU I never purchased products, credits, or anything. Credits only came in through Dev tokens (which don't make sense) and the 5,000/mo that I received through VIP. Yes, I am VIP and I still get the mediocre service that everyone including "guest_" users see. But one day I couldn't log on and I knew I hadn't forgotten my password so I checked my e-mail and there it was. An e-mail permanently banning my account for fraud. I don;t even know what fraud is. But I looked it up and I was confussed beyond belief to why I was accused of this. I searched if any other customers had received this e-mail by mistake before and I discovered I wasn't the only one... I read all these complaints and everything I hated about IMVU is true. This site sucks. Here's a list of complaints about IMVU and why you shouldn't contribute ANYTHING to this illegal site: -Customer Service sucks. So called tickets are the request for answers that never get answered. There's barley any numbers to call for help which is a federal offense. And most likely you wont get help unless its a federal law being broken through money being taken. - This site does not filter the bad stuff about the internet WHAT SO EVER. Profanity, nudity, suggestive sexual scenes, drug use, alcohol use, or ANYTHING that's in their "Virtual Goods Policy" is all unseen by IMVU's crew. Their "Peer Review" does nothing but annoy developers because of other members not actually reviewing the products just so they can get some extra credits. And the stuff that is supposed to be blocked by this "Peer Review" due to the "Virtual Goods Policy" still leaks through due to this. Members are free to say what they want, making it super easy for predators to run free and check-out children. - If you pay your just the same as the people who don't pay. Sure you get more stuff and you get individuality and some extra credits each month but the respect for your avatar is no different than a newbie with a "guest_" before their name. Its just a gimmick to get you to pay up for the little stuff. - Programing sucks. The programing is still Beta and is still super slow. If KB's are high in a room, oh well, someones gotta remove some clothing. The clothing even sucks worse. No layering causing you to buy more stuff because you cant put this with this. And the unfair price of clothing has been jacked up because of the fee that developers have to pay to publish the product. Derivation fee(which is understandable because someone made the product) + 300 credit markup for inflation(go figure) + 1,000 credits for who knows what. Its sad. - If $1USD = 1,000 credits than they should reconsider the fact that $1USD is priced the pay it is really valued because obviously IMVU thinks the dollar is worthless. Sounds like 1,000 is a lot but its not compared to the prices of most stuff in their catalog. Thank you for reading my review and please comment and leave a review yourself so we can fight this issue!

im here to validate all the complaints to be of true I'm a long time member from 2006 to now still there, but like the rest state you never know if your going to be a member, after waking up the next day to come in imvu. it is true there is no support that is being correctly answered or being taken care of. it is also true that the billing system will charge accounts and when you complain of the services of vip, they take the money and cut you off vip access. forum mods stated they had boot power and is able to disable accounts then re told that was not true but a post is in hidden state to verify this fact. the mod her self removed it. I'm a person who will grab the dirt then before I'm removed. i have it on hand this is how i know all imvus dealing under the stacks and on top of the stacks. imvu is crooks and its new its been this way from 2006 and up. due to a bunch of teens over running imvu in 2006 it cased a load of us as a group to leave. i happen to come back 2 years later. thinking all is well better and much order. umm i thought wrong imvu became un American and ripping the us fed rights from under people. i also have an email from one of the forum mods who is refusing to return, based on a few post complaints here as well. im also going back to usa today were imvu was featured highlight not long ago and make sure they over turn that. we are also contacting the investors to make note of all complaints when a investor sees this they will ask them to recap all loans they ever was given back, based on flaws and lieing on there part. Investors look in to companies before they invest. now that they IMVU got that funding it can be over turned based on this site and 3 others about imvu and there biz actions. investors don't want to risk losses to companies like this imvu tomorrow could file bankruptcy to avoid charges and paybacks. they have shown this already they are avoiding communications to members, abusing members, bulling members, and wrongfully removing accounts without reason. they are also punishing members in forums and letting the provoker get way with it. but how ever they also don't know yet i reported that mod to her county as a cyberpunk bully, sent them the files of the post shes now under watch and is now listed as a threat to UK's laws. i don't think imvu will bail he butt out of a jail in UK. then what is she going to do? imvu will turn away from her not protecting her or defending her. cause imvu wants to be the pretty in pink cover up company that illegally is breaking fed laws and rights to people of a lot of countries. i get a email back from support and how it was stated was now what? like i told them I'm publicly posting there flaws in tickets. the reason i get mine answered is because if they don't i have a team of security people who will ram the servers loads make them overload and pop all the caps in the systems, making them replace the full server data center all hard drives will be non usable after all is done and they wont be able to track back. we don't use proxies here lol we use other powers called the feds and homeland security. you also might think of going to FTC.GOV go to the us dept of commerce and the whitehouse. tell them your not getting your rights fulfilled. bbb has helped me many times guys. i won a lot of cases because of bbb. i also was able to put services out of commission using bbb ftc and a few others as well. imvu just hasn't heard the others yet. my recommendation is to advise you to use as much gov services like BBB, FTC, US DEPT OF COMMERCE, CONTACT HOMELAND SECURITY, CONTACT THE WHITE HOUSE EACH DEPT HAS A SECTION FOR COMPLAINTS ON SERVICES LIKE IMVU. YOU CAN ALSO CONTACT THE FBI we have done that already and are floating imvu now, to look in the the matter of the ones who are doing illegal child acts to persueing children, all you have to do is say you have reason to believe that a user is posing as a child to get close to a child. they do have them too imvu is not sorted under the laws of the net not at all. imvu is letting kids access ap and they are I'm sorry but yes there are kids posed as adults asking for ap. how i know its a kid because kids will pop out and not know you and straight up ask you in a manner that is not proper as an adult. and a few fessed up they was underage kids. Kids don't have manners many don't when they are in a world like this. so how you point them out is easy, very easy. I'm an adult I'm not going to ask a person the first time i meet them to buy me stuff that shows how childish you are. kids will walk up to a stranger and ask for money, or ask for candy, or ask to be bought things. it happens every day some kids do it and when mom or did find out, you know what happens after? butt woopen time. you cant always blame the parents. most don't know what the child is doing if the child is sneaking behind there back right? and i know for a true fact that imvu has had 3 girls underage in imvu posing as 18 to 21 lol want the accounts bbb for proof they can't lie if the accounts are in my hands right now for the feds can they? these kids are ages 11 12 under 13. not legally to be on the net. try to back off this one imvu i have all my proof ok? so yea id love for you to think your not a lie when you are imvu. now as i stated before imvu im cleaning house I'm riding of your trash. now get off sitting on your head and put in back on your shoulders. id slap ya but i don't want the (^(&**&( to Stan my hands.

I don't understand why I have to give them a star at all. I am a mom. I am 41 yrs old. My daughter has an imvu account witch I am going to make her close. She is 17 yrs old.
I gave her 20 bucks off my debit card so she could get things for her avatar. I'm not a huge fan of not seeing her all day because she's trapped in that fake world, but I try and do things to make her happy. That was 2 mo ago. I wake up today and find that there are charges to my card I didn't make. I talked to my daughter she said she didn't make them. So I called my bank. They are going to reverse the charges. They told me that what ever got billed to my account is a membership. Here's the awesome thing. Its not to her avatar. I called imvu and couldn't find a person to talk too. I want to know why my card info in stored in this account. What online place does that? Now because of this my account is over drawn. I have to cancel my card. This is a huge hassle for me so close to Christmas. What kind of a place doesn't have a number to call?
I have also found out due to talking to other moms that this site is a breeding ground for child stalkers. It is very easy to lie on this site and pretend you are an adult. Who wants that for their children? This place should be shut down!!!

If you have problems getting help from help tickets due to fraud, email them at fraud@imvu.com, or call them at 1-866-761-0975 then go to billing and request to talk to someone, its the only way ive been able to actually get a hold of someone via phone with them, my account was suspended by a 3rd party reseller of credits ive never used, i inquired and found out about the 3rd party site (took imvu long enough to send me a response) the seller said i made purchases and they were linked to my account. Ive been trying to get my account back because i had nothing to do with a fraud which has been proven by paypal and the police i have been dealing with that i did not do. paypal sent this information to the 3rd party site who is an AUTHORIZED dealer who has refused to talk to me or forward the information on to imvu which is what i told imvu and they say they cant do anything till they hear anything back from the 3rd party site. IMVU is refusing to let me talk to a higher up of any kind (though Ester was very helpful and nice, the other gentleman was rude, uncooperative, and sounded like he was stoned)They say they cant do anything till the reseller gives them something is a lie, imvu is higher than them and can reserve the right to give an account back if they wish it. Over this issue (which i have been dealing with since before thanksgiving) i am pressing charges against the 3rd party site and imvu if nessicary.

My Imvu account KuroDragon was disabled for no reason Tuesday December the 8th of 2009, I have tried many ways to contact you as to find out why, i had reseved no email dealing with this problem. I have filed four help tickets and have resived no help, you have NO number when by legal law of the united states of america you are required to have a help phone number. I belive my account was hacked as it happen at the same time and the same day as three of my friends, Phuzzaphobia, Tychan, and Shayiera all of us where online when it happened and where logged out. This problem needs to be fixed as non of us have done anything wrong acroding to your own TOS.

I have been on IMVU for just shy of two years now, or would have been if IMVU had not disabled my account Tuesday, 8 December 2009 for no reason. I received NO email warning, no warning to my homepage, and had no outstanding reason for IMVU to disable me. I suspect I was hacked, but what do they care? IMVU has NO customer service. Help tickets are bugged and sit unanswered for months when they promise to check them within 3 business days. Bullcrap. They have NO customer service helpline, despite the fact they accept credit cards. This is a federal offense. They have no less than a half a dozen phone numbers, but they either re-direct to the fully-automated line which just tells you to file a worthless help ticket, or just ring and ring for eternity. They have a fax line, but who knows if it gets checked or if the paper just piles up on the floor? While I greatly enjoyed my time with IMVU's service provided to users, getting to meet new people and make things to earn virtual money that by the way is paid for with real cash at a rate of $1 USD to 1,000 credits, as listed by IMVU, the "customer service" is where I am furious. They have none, zip, notta, nichts, nothing. How the hell the expect to continue to be a business with no customer service is beyond me. They also have trojan virus-infected banner ads on thier page. When you log in, log out or are a guest_ user, you will be exposed to these viruses. Several people have been totally shut down from these, having to do complete computer reinstalls or even getting new pcs, and they had virus protection software! This cannot be legal. How the BBB has an A+ rating is beyond me. I gave them one star based on their customer service, or lack thereof. For the basic service, they would receive 4 stars but for service they should receive a negative amount.

This review is based on over 4 years experience with IMVU Inc. My standing with IMVU is as a developer, customer, and parent. The most recent activity I have viewed that impacts all levels of my experience as a user is what I will review here. The sheer amount of neglect and direct disregard for their users needs is only surpassed by the incredibly disconcerting customer service. I have logged customer support requests for several reasons and some have yet to be responded to. There are three still pending from two years ago. One more recent customer service request I made was in regards to their Daily Outfit Challenge in which a naked avatar was on the second page. It took 6 weeks for them to respond and the only comment made to me regarding the matter was that it was being looked into. Six weeks is a great deal of time for small children to view such nudity. IMVU claims to be in Beta yet has been open to the public for more than 5 years. This is a clear misrepresentation to avoid potential charges by users in regard to their false claims pertaining to their services. Recently, November 2009, IMVU imposed a fraudulent program without notifying any of their user base as to the intentions they had. They added products, which they chose from their business partners, and propagated them to wishlists of those users that had no products on their lists. They hid this fact from the users to prevent them from removing the said business partners products. Many users purchased these items with IMVU Credits, the IMVU virtual currency which is purchased with real world money, for friends and relatives not realizing that the user did not wish to own those products as the wishlist indicated that the user had chosen the items. This was a deliberate action as they indicated 4 days after the fact that it was an intentional move to 'avoid anyone not having a wishlist'. The products are poorly made and several of the products on the list are NOT general audience as they go against the very Virtual Goods Policy that IMVU claims to enforce. There was no way to contact anyone at IMVU Inc. as they implemented this program on a weekend, which most of these types of things they do, so that nothing could be dealt with until the following week. This is a consistent method that IMVU Inc. uses to ensure that they receive at least a few days of monetary income from programs they know will upset their users. These products have now been forced to a new location with a tag that states they are recommended by IMVU, however, they have not removed the products that violate their own Virtual Goods Policy. To add to this issue, only specific products are on this list and not rotated between the hundreds of other developers on the IMVU website which create content for them. This is a corporate monopoly which misrepresents the goods available in the product catalogue. These products can also be purchased repeatedly as, although the product may already be in the inventory of the user it was purchased for it is replaced repeatedly until the recipient added other products to their list. Many of the complaints made in the IMVU forums regarding this matter were that not only were users receiving items they did not wish to own but also receiving it multiple times. Clothing items cannot be used more than once at a time so this means that any additional purchases of said products only manage to waste the givers money. Approximately a year ago another such program was implemented where IMVU Inc. changed the retail pricing for new users without informing them or anyone else that they would be doing so. The fluctuation they used could charge someone anywhere from 300% above or below the actual retail price of the product the new user was viewing in the catalogue. They did this without any warning to anyone and claimed later it was a test to see how new users would react to varying prices. They did not warn the new users of this fact, allowing them to choose for themselves if they wished to participate in such a 'test'. They did this as a blind test which caused many new users to not return to the site due to the sheer cost of purchasing the IMVU credits with real world money to afford the products they wished to own. This hurt the user based development community financially as well as implied that many of the user developers were grossly over charging for their products which prevented many of them from getting future sales from the new users signing up. Over the past year the sheer amount of users that have had their accounts disabled without explanation as to why has been beyond comprehension. When asked for information as to what caused their account to be disabled it can take weeks, even months, to get a response from customer service, when a reply is actually given. There were many that were improperly disabled due to a 'bug' in their programming which falsely indicated that the user in question either posted or approved an 'Unfit for IMVU' (otherwise known as a UFI) product to the catalogue. There were no apologies or restitution made to those that lost business and products due to this incident. Unfortunately, this activity is still going on to this day. I do not recommend IMVU to anyone, of any age. The issues I have mentioned here are only a small portion of the poor business practices shown by IMVU Inc. over the years I have been a member.

A+ rating??? Are you kidding me? IMVU Customer Service is non-existant, unless they wish to disable an account or take away goods that have already been paid for. I've been a member since 2/08 and I've put up with a lot of changes. If I didn't have so much money invested in IMVU, I would have deleted my account long ago. I am an adult and, as such, I should be able to act like one. I have paid for Age Verificaton, I have paid for AP Status, and I have paid for VIP Status, but this means nothing. You might as well flush that money down the toilet for all the so-called "benefits" they give you. They make claims they do not follow through with. And forget about filing a complaint or a help ticket. They respond with an automated email and then ~poof~ they're gone. And, God forbid, you should post a complaint on a public forum. They just delete it. If you're not already a member, I highly recommend you find an alternate site. If you are a current member, then you already know exactly what I'm talking about. BBB needs to reevaluate this rating.

I have to say that I have had multiple trouble tickets placed into the IMVU Support system for over a month and to date I have not heard back from anyone at IMVU. In fact I went so far as to post my issue in their support forums and my posts were removed by IMVU Moderators. I have been a member of their service since 2007 and watched things get progressively worse with each passing version of their client is released. For a company that brags about how good they are they simply do not measure up in fact I would tell anyone interested in using this service that they should give serious attention to alternate service as they will not get any type of customer service from IMVU Inc. Things have gotten so bad with their service of late that a group of customers have formed a group called imvWho.com in order to voice their concerns without fear of IMVU Staff. I would give them less than 1 star if I were allowed.

This company obviously does NOT listen to customer complaints, especially when issuing credits and opening a ticket is their way of NOT having to speak to someone directly. To get anything settled or to issue a complaint about IMVU, you MUST contact the SanJose Better Business Bureau, IMVU is "graded" based on user feedback and if they get enough negative complaints, things will change. Please pass this information on to your friends. Here is the website where you can complain about IMVU on the SanJose Better Business Bureau website. http://sanjose.bbb.org/Business-Report/IMVU-Inc-225868 Also, you can issue a complaint on TrustLink which is a Better Business Bureau program: http://www.trustlink.org/BusinessProfile.aspx?ID=206049811 Pass this on to everybody, don't let IMVU get away with ripping you off !!!!!!!

I have been a member of the IMVU community for over two years. I have spent real money for the virtual item I bought and used as a member. I also paid for "benefits" afforded those who where VIP OR AP.I had to prove my age and pay for the use of my avatar name and also pay for the privilege of doing so. As an AP member I was to have the benefit of mature activities with other mature adults. As adults we should be able to distinguish between what is proper and improper and to choose the activities we what to engage in. We had the capability to leave any chat or area we did not what to be a part of, to choose are friends and to benefit from those friendships. If an adult wishes to give gifts or to buy credits for another member that was an option made available by IMVU .This should be the choice of those who pay for the IMVU service. This is why we belong to IMVU.I am here because for some reason unknown to me my account was disabled or hacked or whatever. IMVU did not inform me of any violations or reason behind the action. I just did not exist. I just bought a bundle a few days before and everything I had purchased in my time there is now unavailable to me. I was never advised by the staff or contacted about any problems with me or my account. I have written to them and have not received a reply. I think an investigation into any reports made about me, if that was the case, should be brought to my attention and I should be able to, A.) ADDRESS THE ACCUSER, B.) GIVE MY SIDE OF THE STORY OR EVENT/S IN QUESTION AND C.)RECEIVE WARNING TO STOP THE BEHAVIOR OR BE TERMINATED. When you provide a service you should adhere to your own rules. I find that the lack of respect for your customers will lead to your fall.

I wouldnt give Imvu a single star if i could and the bbb is seriously messed twisted or on some pay roll if they give this site a A+ rating. After all the money u spend in to this site and they delete or disable you and dont explain themselves at all. Last i looked i was an adult. And on that site i was a successful club owner. Now maybe they are jus a bunch of @#$% haters but I didnt have to buy credits because my clubs made them for me and maybe they didnt like that. But if it Imvu your supposed to be able to "live ur dream life" phish. This site is a joke, and needs some federal regulation. And now that they are profitable they need to pay up what they have taken from some of the disable developers and pple who paid in on these accounts.

If the BBB honestly feels that IMVU deserves an A+ rating than the BBB no longer has any credibility in my eyes.
IMVU customer service is pratically non existent.IMVU is a beta product but dispite that fact they have policies in place that discourage and prohibit the paying "beta testers" from giving honest feedback on the product.IMVU community managers have proudly announced many times that the first ammendment doesnt apply on IMVU.In my opinion what IMVU is doing by prohibiting negative feedback from its beta testers amounts to criminal fraud.
new paying beta testers have no way of making an informed decision on how much if any money they want to spend testing this product, because IMVU has routinely covered up the product flaws and complaints from it`s existing beta testers.

I have been using imvu for about a year. I love the outfit challenges. The problems are that the customer service is horrible and i wish they would make a mac version. The customer service never works. You never get a response from them.

All I got to say is somebody needs to do something about this imvu BullCrap.. I dont see how they can delete your account with no notice or reason why. Also for the people that use imvu and buy credits, ap, vip ect. Should be able to get their account back or get the money used for the account!!. Imvu is terrible, price wise. Just to take the "guest" off is 20 bucks! Just nonsense.

I sent in a complaint to the BBB. If anyone has ever sent one in you need to adjust your complaint in a 1200 letter/space/punctuation complaint. I tried to fit it in and I also sent more info to the BBB. As always, IMVU skirted the issue and also avoided 2 of my complaints. IMVU yet again is getting away with their ever vague answers they tend to give. (if they even choose to give an answer.) What is funny is one of my MAJOR complaints was being that fact that they send you to their customer service. Which is none exciting and of no help at all............. Another one was a complaint of a 40 something MALE who's profile is set to FEMALE. A young childlike teen avi is used as his profile picture. He Chats with other YOUNG males and Females never admitting he is an older MALE. I sent this problem to IMVU many times to NO avail. So I included it in my complaint to the BBB . ................. Here was the response I received from IMVU . "I researched the account of (xxxxxx) and found nothing out of order with her account with us." Well yes IMVU you would find nothing wrong with HER profile if the profile in question was a FEMALE...... MY COMPLAINT and CONCERN is its NOT a HER its a HIM!!!!!!( I stated That is was a MALE 3 times to them.) So you see yet again an over site or just not willing to care on IMVU's part puts children at risk. ..................... Also in my complaint there was the topic of Fraud and Cheating in the DOC. Funny how in a response from IMVU thru the BBB they ADMIT to knowing about it but they still held Celebrity contest. ....................... The contests held for the celebrities had their own set of rules The rules posted by the Celebrity stated no cheating. IMVU was aware of it each and every time but still ran the contest. Knowing in fact that the contest held the mules and cheats. ..................... I can not see after my refusal to accept IMVU response to any of my complaint That their rating should stay A+.................. My complaint # is 16032895 ...................... We have closed our file and we appreciate your using the Better Business Bureau. This complaint will remain in our file on this company and will be a part of the report we issue to the public. If we can assist you in the future, please contact us. Thank you............................... NOTE** I Just filed with consumer affairs and I am going to Child endangerment sites and file complaint. I STATED IT WAS A MALE THEY APPROVED IT AS BEING OK AS A FEMALE something is wrong here what is IMVU trying to hide? I am going to contact the celebrities that the contests were ran where cheating was involved I know that IMVU gets more investors with the more members they have but if one cheater is making hundreds of fake accounts and there are 100's of cheaters then the figures IMVU is using for gaining investors is also a FRAUD and they know about it. THIS HAS TO STOP.

How did IMVU get an A+? Their prices are increasing doubly and their services are decreasing at the same rate. VIP and AP perks are vanishing. VIP is not worth the money and the benefits to VIP are dishonestly promoted. The gifts aren't that good, and the actions/movements are outdated. And with AP everything is getting flagged and taken away from your inventory and AP Chat is not functional nor accurate. IMVU's service is terrible. You can't even challenge a warning you receive. They stand to gain from you being warned three times and eventually have your account disabled, because they profit when you make a new account and buy your name not to mention VIP or AP. Version 2.0 is a disastrous and inconvenient client. Anybody who has stayed with some of the older versions of the chat client are being left behind by IMVU, there are no updates for the older client versions only this 2.0 one. They don't listen to the users' comments nor do they address our concerns. One example is that the AP chat doesn't match up people with the AP, no matter how many times you try it. You're stuck with people who don't have the pass which negates the reason for the pass in the first place. Another is the lack of productive customer service. And the thing that angers me the most is that you can't even criticize the company or some of the choices they made/make in the forums because you'll be disciplined with a warning or banned from forums or from the site itself. I don't understand why BBB gave them an A+. That grade is so inaccurate.

After the time I have spent in IMVU, I must say that I could very easily rate IMVU half a star out of five. Their customer service is lacking immensely. Have a problem? Ask a friend or a friend of a friend. I wrote IMVU LAST YEAR concerning a an adult male seeking out teenage girls. I never got a response and that individual is STILL preying on young girls. My boyfriend's account was disabled for no reason. He had over 80,000 REAL credits and spent over $600 on his account and now it's gone. He has begged IMVU to give it back to him, or give him a reason why they did such a thing. No response yet. (That was close to two weeks ago).

As a trustworthy company with its clients best intentions in mind, I give IMVU half a star. As a greedy monopolizer out for monetary gain and nothing more, I give IMVU five stars.
