Insane "Customer relations"
|
I was given a ship date of 1 week for a gift card. I sent an email asking if they could send me the card number, like everybody else. Barbara sent me an email saying she tried to call me with an answer, but nobody picked up. Naturally, I asked if she could email it. She responded that she could email it, but I had to have a working phone # to fulfill the order. What? My phone works just fine, thank you. This exchange went back and forth. She never answered my question and told me that my "non-working" phone had raised an alert within the system. Apparently, my order could only be filled if someone answered my telephone. And all of this was done to a repeat customer.
In total, 8 emails were exchanged. The ninth was me cancelling the order.
This was by far the stupidest and most unproductive exchange I've ever had with a company.
My theories are as follows:
1. They gave me a discount on a gift card, which they probably shouldn't have. This was their way of angering me so much I would cancel the order.
2. Barbara is ignorant of standard business practice. .
3. Barbara was getting a good laugh out of trying to give me a stroke
There is no way for me to paint a happy face on this. It was just stupid and futile.

Business's response - by Angara Jewelryon 1/21/2013

Hi Tom,
We strive to offer unparalleled customer service and apologize for the fact that your experience was far from a stellar one. We sell high value fine jewelry and follow stringent security measures to protect the credit card owners as well as ourselves. By and large, customers really appreciate our security measures. As part of the security process, we periodically confirm billing phone numbers - when we tried reaching yours, the calls did not go through. Thus, we requested a working phone number that is linked with your credit card. As you refused to provide one, we suggested that we cancel the order and immediately issue a full refund. Further, using a discount code on our Gift Cards is perfectly acceptable. We apologize for the inconvenience and frustration caused.
Yours sincerely,
Angara Customer Service
