DO YOUR RESEARCH
|
I purchased a 2 ct diamond at Beverly Diamonds in October 2013. It had more inclusions than I thought was acceptable. My certification says the diamond was an SI. My local jeweler told me it was at least an I2 if not worse. After some research I discovered the diamond I purchased was GRA certified (Gemological Rating Laboratory of America) and from what I hear this company has no respect in the diamond world. The only reputable companies (according to my research) is GIA, EGL USA, AND AGS. These diamond grading labs have the highest standards in the world and are the most respected. A SI graded diamond by GRA would be an I2 from GIA. A "G" color from GRA would most likely be a "J" from GIA. Beverly Diamonds does offer GIA certified diamonds but you have to ask for them, otherwise you'll get a GRA diamond. It boils down to "you get what you pay for". I did contact Beverly Diamonds regarding my complaint. They explained to me the difference between GRA & GIA and even offered to take my diamond back and replace it with a different one or upgrade to a GIA diamond. I was impressed with their customer service and probably would use them again in the future. I don't necessarily blame them for what happened. I blame myself for not doing my research.
