First off, I am not a customer of this site...I am a victim. This company sells personal information of every person they can find in the world - 300 million and growing they state. They do not offer a "permanent" way to remove your profile, so you must constantly check their site and go through the removal process, which limits the number of times you can use an email or IP address. If you are listed 7 times because you lived in multiple locations, good luck getting this information taken down. If you get a new email address or they find a new source, you get to start all over again. If you are female, you get to do this for your married and maiden names...so your job is twice as difficult. They also sell the more in-depth information on you, your friends and your family. Their interface for just their "free information" makes it easy for criminals to locate your home and even provides pictures and satellite views to better assist them. They provide your approximate value, making you an even juicier target for the criminal element. I would hate to see someone who was the victim of domestic violence, gang violence or someone who just looked them up get injured or killed because these data brokers led them to a person. This site makes getting to your information so easy a "grandmother" can find it (I am incorporating a portion of their ad campaign for this statement).

Locate the listing you want removed 2. Copy the URL (the URL can be found on the top of your browser and should look something like "http://www.spokeo.com/search?q=Smith%20Sample#Sample:1219812367") 3. Go to www.spokeo.com/privacy 4. Paste the URL 5. Provide your email address (this acts as a verification process for the confirmation to be sent to your Inbox) and Letter (Captcha) Code 6. Check your Inbox for the confirmation email, and click on the link on the bottom to complete removal process. 7. The directory listing will become flagged and will be removed by an engineer within 1 business day. If you have multiple listings that you would like to be removed, you can go ahead and email each of the URL's to Nancy@Spokeo.com. Nancy and her privacy team will remove your listings as soon as possible. Just allow up to 24-hours for the change to be reflected on our site. Also, when you choose to opt out of Spokeo, we place a permanent flag on your listing so that it does not ever reappear on Spokeo.com.
