change of plans? it's going to REALLY cost you with Vayama
Back in November, I booked a round-trip flight for my daughter from Boston to Johannesburg for a research expedition in July-August. Months later, she got a job for next school year. Unfortunately, the training period overlaps with her original trip dates,
so I have to change them. Why will I NEVER use Vayama again? Vayama charges $100 to change itineraries ON TOP of what the airlines charges. PLUS, even though I can go online and get the new itinerary for nearly $500 less than I paid for the original, I must
pay $110 more for the "fare increase" because "the airlines won't let us book the less expensive seat class". So. If I had gone directly through the airlines, the change would have cost $275 (and perhaps less, if they credited the airfare difference). Because
I'm using Vayama, the change will cost $485. (Yes I bought travel insurance, but the "cancel for work reasons" only covers current employment, not future, and this policy did not offer "cancel for any reason" as an option. D'oh.) Gee, thanks, Vayama. Don't
worry, I will let my friends know. Friends don't let friends use Vayama.

Business's response - by David R.on 3/23/2013
Rebecca- Thank you for your feedback. At the time of booking we do advise the fees on making changes, including the Vayama service fee and ay airline penalty that may be up to $400, and any additional difference in fare. Vayama charges a service fee to change tickets, as do all other online travel sites. Every travel site needs to follow the rules as advised by the airline, and depending on the fare that you booked those restrictions may include penalty fee, or a restriction that you must upgrade the fare when making an exchange. This information is available at the time of booking, we also provide the fare basis code so that you may contact the airline and get complete information of the fare. You can also email or call us and we can assist you with that. Deeply discounted fares are often more restrictive. Travel Guard is the insurance provider and they also provide their policy and contact information at the time of booking, so you can check what is covered and what is not. If you would like me to review your reservation more in-depth please email feedback@vayama.com 'ATTN: Ashleigh' Thank you, Ashleigh
