Stay Away From Direct Source Copiers!


I'm not one to write a bad review, but I think any consumer should be aware of this company and their bad practice. A very charismatic sales-man by the name of David Stokes sold our company a machine that was nothing as he described. My company was looking
into upgrading our old copier and when the machine David sold us came in, it was apparent that it was not at all what he made it out to be. It seems very dated, prints out slower than the copier we currently had, and the quality of print was terrible. It was
very difficult to get ahold of David once we expressed our complete dissatisfaction with the copier. Needless to say, we are now stuck with a bad product. So as it's been said, buyer beware...

Avoid these people!!!


Avoid these people at all costs!!! They misrepresent themselves as being a licensed Kyocera distributor, which they are not (called Kyocera to confirm) they are a third party sub-distributor. We purchased a Kyocera Mita FS-3640MFP as per David Stokes' (owner) suggestion. The printer turned out to be either defective or is not meant to run at the high volume that we are running it. There is also the never ending curling of the printed pages in the output tray due to which the papers end up all over the floor. Prior to us purchasing it, he assured us that the printer will handle our work load with no problem...we are only at 78,000 prints and we have had 3 technicians come out to fix the unit in 8 months.

Mr. Stokes contracted for someone to come in to install the unit when it arrived and he did not deliver on that. No one ever showed up to install it. Within the first month of usage the developer broke. Mr. Stokes kept telling us to seek service from a local service provider and pay for the labor and part out of pocket. We called Kyocera who told us that the part was covered. Mr. Stokes refused to work with us on the issue, first he simply told us to seek someone local to fix it, then he completely ignored our emails and phone calls. We finally had the developer changed and since that point we have had nothing but problems with this unit. It keeps breaking down every 3 months or so...and we only had this machine for 9 months!!! Mr. Stokes refuses to give us a refund, and is avoiding our correspondences.

As per Kyocera's licensed rep., Allen Basile, these sub-distributors (Direct Source Copiers) are a huge problem for Kyocera and advised us to NEVER buy from these kinds of sellers. Nobody is willing to grant us a refund...we are being offered to fix the current issue but to keep this model (which is going to continue to break down on us like it has done so far). Recently we get an email from Mrs. Stokes, of whom we have never heard and who wasn't even involved in any part of the process, attempting to clarify to us some facts about our situation. The audacity of these people is unbelievable. We responded to her with all the original emails which prove their incompetence and lack of responsibility and we have not heard from them since.

Our advice is to not only avoid Direct Source Copiers but to avoid Kyocera altogether (their printers have many design flaws and are inferior in quality, as we are being told by a handful of local dealers that carry several brands of product). Play it safe and buy a Canon or a Sharp because the headache is just not worth it.

Avoid them like the plague/Scam alert


I had a very Bad experience during my one and only attempt at ordering a copier from direct source copiers. Waited a month for a xerox copier. They charged my Visa the full amount the day I ordered. Expected it within a week or so like all other items I have ordered online from similar suppliers. The copier never arrived. I am Still trying to get my money back 4 months later. I hope people read this to avoid being scammed by this company. There are so many alternatives out there that this company will probably be bankrupt soon. One can only hope that I get my money back before they go chapter 11.

I purchased a new copier from Direct Source Copiers with an extended onsite service contract. The copier has functioned properly since its delivery.

Today, I accidentally fed a document through the document feeder with a paperclip and couldn't get the paperclip unstuck, thus I couldn't make copies through the feeder.

Since I have a service contract with Direct Source, I contacted their office and talked to Tiffany (she's the one that handles our service contract through them, which includes supplies) and told her what had happened and she said no problem and that someone would be contacting me shortly to get me scheduled up for a service call.

I was amazed that I received a call within a few hours and the service tech came out that same day. He was courteous and actually showed up when he said he would.

Thank you very much for the prompt service! Lawyers are paper pushers and we're lost without our copier.

Just wanted to say that our office was in need of a new copier as our old one just stopped working. We called for service and it was cheaper for our office to just purchase a new copier.

My Boss asked me to captain the purchase so, I went online and saw Direct Source Copiers and called. The staff was friendly, professional and knowledgeable and knew exactly what we needed. After adding a few upgrades that my Boss now wanted on the new copier I was emailed a quote which I gave to my Boss. He called and spoke to them and decided to order the copier.

It showed up in less than a week and it works great. Just wanted to say thank you. You are lifesavers!

We had a great experience with this company. We purchased a copier a few years ago and have been ordering our supplies from them since then. Since we're out of State we never get charged sales tax nor freight charges. Today, when I called to order supplies I asked if the supplies were on sale right now and was informed that since we're already a customer of theirs, our supplies will always be on sale for us. No matter if there is a price increase.

You ROCK! Thank you Direct Source Copiers.

I recently purchased a fax machine from Direct Source Copiers after researching and searching online for just a free standing fax machine as it seems everything is going "multifunction" which isn't what I wanted nor needed.

I called 1 company whom was ranked just as high on my google search, but got an automated system which after a frustrating 5 minutes trying navigate through it to actually get a live person for which to speak to directly I just hung up.

I called Direct Source Copiers and was transferred to Tiffany who was very informative. I found her very knowlegeable, courteous and seemed to know what I needed. I gave her my email address and she emailed me a quote and it was exactly what she represented so despite the reviews below I went with my gut and ordered it from her and am thankful that I did.

The day after I ordered the fax machine, I received an email from Tiffany with my tracking information and was shocked that it was out for delivery that very day.

When I received it later that day, I took it out of the box, put in the toner and paper and plugged it in and it works great!

This Company is the real deal and will I be ordering from them again, if and when the time comes. I got the fax machine I ordered for the price indicated on my quote and it functions as expected.

I have no ideas what the bad reviews are about because my company has always had an excellent experience with Direct Source Copiers. The customer service has been exemplary. Cordial. Knowlegeable and if I ever had any issues they were addressed and resolved expeditiously.

One thing is clear and worthy of noting is there are always two sides to every story and as helpful as Direct Source has been to me and my company there must be something "other" than business going on to write the reviews that they did which concerns me not as a consumer because this is business. They must not have done any due diligence prior to purchasing from Direct Source is probably what it boils down to.

I recommend Direct Source Copiers as I received exactly what I bargained for. They put everything in writing, prior, to me giving them any payment information so that it was clear what I was buying. What exactly they were charging me for and what I can expect when my shipment arrived. There were no hidden charges and what they put in writing is exactly what I received.

Was a very smooth transaction from beginning to end so there is nothing further to discuss other than my company is now ready to purchase the Network interface and network our copier to our computers. So, I will be calling them to affect this new purchase. Thank you Direct Source Copiers.

I have had a long standing business relationship with Direct Source Copiers spanning almost a decade. My company needs have grown over the years, in turn so have my business electronics needs. I went from a small office copier with no frills required to a medium range commercial copier. Faster more efficient that needed to be network capable, had scan and fax, etc.
So? David of Direct Source was the logical choice and to date have no regrets in purchasing my ever changing business needs office equipment from them. The products are as represented. Delivered in the manner represented and serviced in the manner represented.

I rarely look at reviews when it comes to purchasing anything because there seems to be a theme represented therein those reviews that are based on personal vendettas rather than professional ones and when I'm looking into a company to purchase from, the business reviews are all that matters to me. How is this company on a professional level is my optimum requirement. Price, capabilities and professionalism is key.

Personal feelings and vendettas have no place, in my mind, in a business environment. If you want good office products at a good price with the optimum service, knowledge and expertise, you need to call Direct Source Copiers. Anything else really isn't relevant.

I recommend and have referred collegues to Direct Source Copiers whom in turn have purchased their office equipment from them and will keep referring anyone whom asks me to Direct Source Copiers as they have always assisted my office with all its business needs and requirements.

Direct Source spent time with me talking about different copiers. I was very impressed with the level of Knowledge for all the different copiers. I am in construction and know nothing about copiers. David took the lead and showed me a couple copiers for sale. The rest is history as they say. The copier showed up as promised and that was that ......thank you Direct Source!

I bought a copier at the end of the year for tax purposes. David (the owner) was very thorough and made sure to get me what I needed in a timely manner. Dealing with Direct Source was very enjoyable and I plan on buying another copier from them before the end of this fiscal year. Our doctors practice has improved in our success thanks to this company and myself and our doctor would recommend Direct Source to anyone!

My experience with Direct Source Copiers, Inc. was terrible. In fact it was much like the experince of Anamorph. Good price, no service warranty. We purchased a Canon Fax machine that did not work when it arrived at my place of business. I found David's attitude to be extremely condesending when I spoke to him regarding the problem. There was nothing professional about him. We were able to find a company that would repair the fax machine and Direct Source did supply the replacement part. However, they would not cover the travel charges and labor involved which amounted to $400.00. When I tried to contact David over the phone he was "not in". Our company will not do business there again and I can not recommend that anyone else do business here either.

Just wanted to let you know I had a terrific experience with Direct Source Copiers. I ordered a copier and it was shipped immediately. The copier came in a couple days. It did what it was supposed to do and the entire process was easy and very affordable. Nice to know there are online companies out there that does what it says! Thank you again! Terrific!

Our company purchased a copier from Direct Source in Spring 09. When we put in our backup toner cartridge that was given to us at the install, we called to get another. That was in August 09. It is now Feb 10, and they will not send us a replacement toner until we reach a certain copy count. I have never seen a copier company so reluctant to send toner cartridges to their customers, or using a copy count as the BASIS of whether or not you "NEED" another cartridge. We have tried many times through phone calls and emails to no avail. Our copies are getting light and we do not have a replacement toner and are now having to revert to try to locate one else where. Also, we were never given a coy of our service contract.

Sounds like "Anamorph" has a vendetta again David and Direct Source Copiers. He failed to mention, he never bought a copier from David but has plenty to say about his company....Sounds very suspicious to me...Sounds like a walking talking billboard for free advertising for JTF. Anamorph also failed to mention the 36 month warranty is for designated area only and each customer must purchase their supplies during the course of the warranty or risk voiding the warranty. I called many other companies online including JTF and was critical of all of them. They all sounded like fast talking used car sales people. When I called David at Direct Source Copiers, I immediately felt as ease. He was highly knowledgeable and courteous. He was professional in every aspect of the sale from beginning to end. He made sure everything went right the first time. Including ordering the necessary supplies and calculated the shipping costs while I was on the phone. He then asked me to shop around before committing to an order. I felt the confidence David had in his pricing but I shopped anyway. It is amazing how many online companies don't even answer their phone. When you do finally get to a live person, they talk fast and quick to ask for an order. I felt better talking with David and kept me at ease. Since my first purchase, I have purchased several more from him and never been let down. Thank you David for being their and taking control of what can be a terrible mistake in purchasing office equipment. Anamorph has it wrong. Buying office equipment takes special knowledge. Sounds like Anamorph had his feelings hurt when David cancelled his order making sure it was purchased correctly and with enough supplies to make a copy. Anamorph....don't hate the players...hate the game....Thank you again David!

Direct Source Copiers, Inc. is not always "direct" as the name might imply. Be aware of what you are getting: very good price, but apparent elimination of the service warrantee. This is a trade-off, not necessarily to the consumer's advantage From a more reputable company: JTF business systems, I got a 36 month company warrantee, whereas Direct Source Copiers, Inc. instead gives a (rather cryptic) notation "1 Year Samsung Parts Warranty. ..In lieu of no refund policy, there is a 90 day replacement Guarantee. Customer May Purchase Local Service Contract to Maintain Copier. My further research on this matter leads me to think that this is likely "gray market" sales. Speaking with some of the larger copier sales places, there is familiarity with Direct Source Copiers, Inc. as a family, apartment-based small company. I started doing research on this company because the irregularity of the nature of the purchase. I found the best price for a Samsung copier online, and it was this company's. I went to Google checkout, press the little button, and thought that the purchase was complete. I get a telephone call little while later and Mr. David Stokes (who speaks very nicely) wanted to rework the deal, stating that he ships worldwide and couldn't put in the appropriate shipping amount. He adds a toner the price and shipping as appropriate. I am then supposed to sign a separate invoice rather than go through Google checkout. He wants my credit card information over the telephone. I figure that the whole purpose of Google checkout is to keep credit card information secret and separate so I don't divulge information, rather go research his enterprise. When you include the toner and the shipping price you can find the same price or better elsewhere with more reputable companies, e.g. JTF Business Systems.
