They did a great job on my shutters. I got three estimates for the first floor - they were cheaper than one and about the same as the other, but the guy knew what he was talking about so I went with him. He was right about the way the shutter fit into the rooms and everything worked out so we can move around and use them easily. But, the big deal was the quality of the shutters. My neighbors paid more, but got a lot less from Home Depot. My paint is beautiful, the construction is rock-solid and the fit is like a Lexus. By comparison, the neighbor's is like a rusty old Chevy. Now, I'm doing the upstairs with them.

Just say No -- for the money, you can do better.

I selected Elizabeth Shutters based in part on reviews from TrustLink, so I thought I'd provide my own experiences. Made an inquiry on their web site and was contacted promptly by a very professional, knowledgeable salesperson. She visited my house, took careful measurements and my deposit. I was adding shutters to my existing living room so matching the color of existing woodwork was important. They charged a breathtaking $100 "chemist fee" to match my existing shutters and took a sample piece of wood with her. Thought "gee that's a lot, but if that's what it takes to get it right, I'll pay." Then SIX WEEKS went by. No word at all. Hellooooo? Contacted the salesperson who found out that my order had somehow slipped between the cracks. Another week later a color sample shows up with a release form they expected me to sign stating that I agreed that the color was good enough and that this was as close as they could match. Well... the color they sent me was PINK. My existing wood was WHITE. Which made me wonder if their "chemist" was any good at all. I called my sales rep and told her that I could get closer in color by having the high school student at Home Depot mix me up some paint. (They don't charge a "chemist fee" either, I noted.) So they tried again. The salesperson called to tell me that the color should be great now. Another week and a half goes by. The sample arrived and it was STILL PINK. Worn out and sick of it all (and to my lasting regret) I accepted the color so I could get my shutters installed before holiday visitors arrived. A month later, delivery and installation came along. The installer seemed very professional and put things up promptly. On completion, the installer then handed cans of the touch up paint and said I could use this to touch up all the nail holes he had made and filled. I took a look at all the shutters (installed more than 8 ft off the floor) and there were dozens of little spots to touch up. Then I realized that there were some BIG spots on the paint that had someone's thumb print in it -- factory errors, I guess. I asked if he wouldn't please fix the nail holes and thumbprint. He agreed to do so and it looked fine. (Why do I have to ask them to finish the job? I wondered.) But there is more. On 4 of the shutters, the fit isn't right at all. (This is pretty basic, don't you think?) There is a strip of light that comes through the bottom of the shutter. (Think they undersized the shutter a little bit.) I wrote these problems on my "acceptance" of the work and in a review to the sales rep, but never heard a thing back. I waited more than two months to write this review to give them a chance to respond. So my advice is -- be careful -- and probably look around some more. I think the shutters are probably well constructed. However, I really didn't see any exceptional commitment to getting the product right when problems were pointed out -- either on color or on the fit. And these folks are not cheap. For this type of lasting product, you deserve to have things done correctly, and if my experience is any guide, you might well not get what you expect from Elizabeth Shutters.

We got 4 bids for for the upstairs bedroom windows. The first guy had an affordable price but was in and out in no time and did not want to answer any questions. The 2nd company was really cheap price wise but they were made in China and I can't see how they could enforce their "warranty" with no facility here. The third company had a pretty nice solid sythetic shutter made here Socal. The sales rep was knowledgable and pleasant but the price was way out of the ballpark and I found out there are some drawbacks to the sythetic shutters that I didn't like. The 4th company was Elizabeth and I called them because our neighbor used them and they were happy. Anthony was the estimator and was able to give us a price right away. The samples he showed us looked great and I liked how the basswood shutters could be installed vs the synthetic. He was able to measure that day without someone having to come back so we went ahead and placed the order. They came in about 4 weeks and turned out very nice. The installers were very professional and clean and we are happy with our choice and would use them again.

I have been considering shutters for quite awhile now and was told to use Elizabeth Shutters. I have done my research and have found that they are a reputable company. When contacting them, they were not only very knowledgeable, but very helpful. I am confident that they will do a great job on my shutters. Elizabeth Shutters is who we will use, when we definitely decide to do shutters. Thank you Elizabeth Shutters!

Sandy Kritzer was our experienced design consultant. In one visit she priced, measured, and we did our deal. It was painless. We were given a time frame when to expect delivery and, to our surprise, the shutters were ready ahead of schedule. My husband and I watched the installation in amazement as the two installers put the puzzle together. The shutters are beautiful and are a perfect fit. They have certainly added value to our home financially. In addition we enjoy the look. If we ever decide to put shutters on some other windows, we will be sure to call Sandy.

I had been wanting to put shutters in my master bedroom for years and called several companies. Elizabeth Shutters promptly called me back and set up an estimate. I placed my order and the installers were professional and immaculate. I couldn't be happier with the results!! Wish I would have put them in years ago! Sandy, the estimator, knew exactly what would look right for my sliding glass doors and my 4 large windows.

I had Elizabeth Shutters installed thru out my home in Marina Del Rey and they look great! After calling the 800 number in the Times, I was contacted by Clarice who was timely, pleasant, professional and knowledgeable. One of the main reasons that I Purchased from Elizabeth Shutters was that the are made locally in Colton, California and NOT MADE IN CHINA. I also liked that they were 100% whole piece Basswood not jointed together as other products I looked at. The installers were great as was everyone I came into contact with at Elizabeth Shutters. I have recommended Elisabeth Shutters to both friends and family and highly recommend them to all that read this post.

I'm not really one to take the time to write a review, but I have to say my shutter purchase from start to finish with Elizabeth Shutters has been fantastic.
The salesman was pleasant and knowledgeable, the installer was outstanding, and most importantly the product is super high quality A++!

Just finally got shutters today, 9-16-11. Paid on 8-10-11. Person who came out to measure was late, installer today was late. Install was to be 2-5pm he didn't show up till 6:30pm, without a courtesy call, or anything else. The "scheduler" Marty, needs to learn So. Calif and needs to learn the length of time for each measure or install. Overall the sales person Linda, was great, the measure man, was great, the installer Fito - wonderful, Marty the scheduler has a smart mouth and needs to learn how to schedule so people don't take time off work waiting for a measure or install that is hours late.
The shutters, they look good installed great. But their customer service is really lacking. Reading reviews I am a bit concerned that if there is any problem they will blame "water damage" or "customer damage", and charge the service call and parts- even though it is suppose to have a "lifetime" warranty.
Therefore, my review of this company overall is a one star, not because of the Quality, salesperson, measure or installer but due to Marty's customer service (who represents the company) and lack of knowledge of time frames for travel, install or "whatever" his issue is. I will use another company to complete my house.

We used Elizabeth Shutters in 2007. This year I began to notice that paint was peeling off several louvres as well as the frame on one window. I remembered that 10 year "guarantee" they offered, and gave them a call. Basically, the man I spoke with told me that all problems are from water damage, which is not covered. He went on and on about the specifics of this damage, and said that I would have to agree to a $100- charge to come to the house, knowing in advance that all problems are due to water, and never to their product. He said that anything could cause damage: heating, air conditioning, drafts, temperature changes, opening the window, closing the window, rain, or cleaning. So, assuming a household has any of these conditions present at one time or another, why would anyone install their product, knowing it was bound to fail in a couple of years?
I reluctantly agreed to them replacing 3 louvres at $25- a piece, plus, of course, that $100- show-up fee. The workers just left here after spending exactly 4 minutes doing their work. $175- for 4 minutes of work, and no effort to determine if this defect was do to their own shoddy manufacturing methods.
I would seriously caution you against using this company. Go anywhere else, and do not believe any "10 year warranty" claims.

Overall, they did a good job with my shutters. Installation was great. But, for a "custom" shutter, the fit of my inside mount shutters were terrible. I am most unhappy with the shutter that is most visible from the outside of the house, the one next to the front door. If I stand outside of my front door, I can see the terrible fit of the shutters. I brought it up to the installer who said that it is normal to have gaps around the shutters and the window sides, to allow for some wiggle room when they install the shutters, since most windows are not perfectly square on the edges. I get that, but the thing is there is more than enough wiggle room, probably about 3/4 inch on the sides and top. I think either my salesman (Anthony) did a bad job of measuring, or the factory over-compensated. I just did not bother complaining because I just want to get it over and done with.

Next thing I am not happy about is the customer service of my salesman (Anthony). Few days after the installation, I called the salesman to ask for an official receipt to show that I now have zero balance. He told me to call the corporate hotline instead. I mean, how hard is it going to be for him to be the one to call corporate and relay my request? Since I already paid and he already got his commission, screw me, right?

If I were to have a need for shutters in the future, I will probably have second thoughts getting this company again.

What's Good About them:
- warranty is transferrable
- workmanship seems great
- price is somewhere in the middle. (i got 3 quotes from OC Shutters, Danmer, Elizabeth)
- quick to install
- was on time on install day

Ther was no sales hipe, just alot of knowledge and experience, and it was great to see the various shutter panel samples along with all the different framing choices.
We recently had our shutters installed and WOW they look awesome!
Such a high quality product, top notch installation, all at a great price.

We are new customers of Elizabeth Shutters. We are very pleased with the shutters -- they are gorgeous! Better than what we expected. We can't wait to do the rest of the house. I tend to over-analyze things; so before we bought, we got lots of bids from all the shutter companies we could find. For us, this was a huge project; so we wanted our dollar to be spent wisely. My recommendation is DO YOUR HOMEWORK! Before long we started to see a lot of difference in the way the companies function. Some looked like they were spending loads of money on advertising and that factored into their prices being extremely high. Some pitched extreme discounts but if you looked beneath the surface, it became obvious they were only PRETENDING to be the manufacturer; but really were only middle men buying at wholesale and installing the shutters themselves (buyer beware!) How good can their warranty be in years to come? Our experience with Elizabeth Shutters was really good. Starting with the sales rep all the way to the installers, we were pleased with the professionalism of each employee. We did not feel overly pressured by sales techniques. He was very knowledgeable and explained everything in detail. He has worked for them for over a dozen years; so that signaled stability. After they were put in, he called to see how things went. It was nice to feel cared about. We will refer Elizabeth Shutters to our friends and neighbors without hesitation.

Outstanding and professional in everyway. They took great care to make sure the job was right. I was concerned with one of the reviews but after my experience I really wonder if the person over exaggerated a minor issue. I expected that my furniture may need to be moved. I was more concerned that if a problem did occur if they would show back up. They did in her review so I guess it bothered her that someone took the time and responsibility to do the job right yet she even wanted more? She must believe in entitlements or something. In my case I can tell you they nailed the job perfect. Looks outstanding and I normally don’t write reviews. In this case the exceeded what I consider customer service and job expectations. Absolutely I recommend Elizabeth Shutters craftsmanship and price! In the critque item I wanted it done faster than they said they could but they explained the time was to do it right. They were right!
