My fiance and I needed my 3-diamond engagement ring appraised for insurance coverage, and I searched quite a bit for a trustworthy, qualified appraiser. Paul was incredibly amiable and professional, his office is conveniently located in Downtown's Jewelry district (I walked, but there's plenty of parking below the building or across the street at Pershing Square), and he examined my ring right in front of me. This last part was terrific, as there was no need to worry about getting a plot to make sure a different piece wasn't returned to me, not that I really needed to worry about my ring after all. His fee was very reasonable, especially considering the level of service he provides. In all, I will surely return to Paul for any future jewelry appraisals, I was that satisfied.

I was trying to get my engagement ring appraised kind of last minute, I found LAIGL online and was able to make an appointment that same day which was convenient. Paul was very professional, he completed the appraisal right in front of us and was also helpful in finding a good insurance policy for my engagement ring. Also got it done very efficiently and gave us a very durable package to keep the appraisal secure for years.

I decided to get of rid of my old diamond ring and started looking for an appraiser to get the value before i go to look for a buyer. Found Paul Shikhvarger from LAIGL through BBB and made an appointment to see him. I have found Paul to be very knowledgeable and thorough in what he does. He gave me the value of the ring and told me that if i can not sell for that value he will fund the buyer for me. I went to 4 places, but could not get the price that the diamond was appraised for. I ended up going back to Paul and he sold the diamond in one day !!!

Last week I contacted Paul Shikhvarger with Los Angeles International Gemological Laboratory with a question on an Item that I purchased over the internet. The item that I purchased was a diamond simulant and the company that I purchased from listed its properties as a very high grade item very close to a real diamonds makeup. After seeing several jewlers on a setting they each told me that it was just a CZ. I called the appraisers that had a sheet on the item, sent with its purchase, and I was not sure if this company was an entity in itself or if it was a sister company to the one selling me the item. I fond Paul on the Better Business Bureau's website as a like company in the same area. After speaking to Paul on the phone he asked me to scan the sheet and send it to him and he would review it and get back to me. I did what he asked and within an hour Paul was back to me with a detailed response on both the item, information sheet, and an explanation of why the jewelers said what they said and gave me a much more detailed view of the item. The customer service provided was exceptional and the knowledge base was presented back in clear and unassuming language. What really impressed me is that Paul spent his time and knowledge helping me without any thing in return. Paul, Los Angeles International Gemological Laboratory, thank you for your help! Anytime in the future that I am in need of an appraisal you will be the one that I call. Again, thank you.

I have got recently engaged and wanted to verify the quality of the diamond that my boyfriend got for me. Found LAIGL online and schedule an appointment with Paul Shikhvarger and brought the diamond to him. Truly a nice guy that knows his business and is genuinely willing to help you. I wanted to be as sure as possible that my boyfriend was not getting ripped off and with Paul i felt more and more comfortable the more we talked. The procedure took about 45 min. and Paul explained everything about my diamond that i needed to know. I am very happy with everything and thank you Paul !!! I recommend this appraiser to anyone.

I highly recommend Los Angeles International Gemological Laboratory. I recently took an opal ring to Paul for appraisal. He's a really nice, personable guy, accommodating, with exceptional knowledge and experience. He analyzed my ring scrupulously, walking me through the process as he did it, explaining different points and answering all my questions. When finished, he provided me with a polished, professional looking, in depth laminated appraisal. I will certainly return here for any future appraisals.

I want to say my overall experience with this agency was wonderful! I was a bit scared because I had never had anything appraised before and I wanted to ensure that I went somewhere legit. I found this agency online and found the reviews to be wonderful, so I gave them a try. Their hours were wonderful and was able to get this appraisal done even with my busy schedule. They even stayed open a bit later to ensure a good appraisal for me, it was very sweet. The price of the appraisal was more than reasonable as well.
I would like to share my experience:
When I first arrived I felt very secure. A security guard walked me up to the office where the gemtologist worked and made sure I got to where I needed to be. Paul Shikhvarger was the name of the gemtologist and he was very friendly. He chatted with me during the whole time he was doing his analysis of the ring and told me if I had any questions to ask away.
He was very careful of my ring I was getting appraised. He made sure I could see what he was doing at all times and made me trust that he would take good care of my ring. He was very informative and very knowledgeable, was able to answer any question I had quickly and professionally.
The forms that were filled out for my insurance were professional and very well put together. It was well worth the money and the time. He was not at all biased about the worth of the ring and gave me a true appraisal. I would suggest anyone wanting to get a true appraisal to go to a gemtologist and not a jewellery store.
I give this agency a 5 star rating, professional, friendly, very knowledgeable, safe and clean office.

I want to tell my wonderful experience with Paul Shikhvarger from LAIGL.
I live in New Jersey and had to go to Los Angeles for a family matter. While i was in Los Angeles i got some jewelry pieces as part of an estate that was divided. The jewelry had to be appraised in Los Angeles. So i was doing search for a qualified appraiser and found LAIGL through Better Business Bureau. After reading review and personally speaking with Mr. Paul Shikhvarger the appraiser, i have decided to set up an appointment to come and bring the jewelry for him to take a look for initial evaluation.
After my arrival at the appraising office, i presented the jewelry to him. He went through all the jewelry ( i had 28 pieces) pretty quickly and gave me the time he needed to complete and estimation of his fees. Actually i was very surprised how fast he was sorting the jewelry and telling a lot of useful information about it. I felt that this person is very professional and knows his job well. So i decided to let him do the appraising job. I could not live some of the very valuable items, so he took pictures of the items and all necessary information about the items and i took it with me. Let me tell you one thing: I was in the office almost all day, sitting across the table and watching how this guy works and it is pretty impressive. Very knowledgeable, professional and have great sense of humor. So i came back five days latter to pick up the paperwork and some of the items that i left with him. He showed me the paperwork and explained in details each item that he had appraised. Each appraisal certificate had picture of the item and comprehensives description with appraised value. He answered all my questions and i left the office FULLY SATISFIED and pretty happy that i choose Paul Shikhvarger to be the appraiser for the job.

I needed an appraising company for my jewelry that I inherited and needed to be appraised. I had a few watches, jewelry and silverware, so I was looking specifically fro the appraiser that has experience in different types of jewelry and watches. I found this company through Google and decided to do my appraisals with them. The appraiser Paul Shikhvarger did a great job, explaining every detail of his work.
He also gave me very valuable information how to sell my jewelry.

Great place to get your diamonds appraised. I purchased 2 diamond rings off the Internet and wanted to verify it and appraise for the insurance. Read reviews from BBB and decide to do it with LAIGL. Everything was done in front of me and the appraiser Paul Shikhvarger, was really newels in what he does. I recommend this place.

If you have any jewelry that you want to get appraised for selling, LAIGL is the right place to go for it. I brought in three rings, and they did an excellent job. One of the rings was really old with a gemstone that i had no idea what it was. The appraiser Paul Shikhvarger has identified it on the spot(it was red spinel). Also he was more than happy to answer any questions I had. Kind of scary how much this guy knows about the gemstones. One more thing: the appraisal value that he assigned to my jewelry was about right that I expected. I sell estate jewelry on the Internet and see all the time appraisals with inflated ridiculous values, but Paul was just right on the value.

Paul Shikhvarger, the appraiser, did great job on my diamond ring that I brought for insurance appraisal. He explained the 4cs (color, clarity, cut and carat)about my diamond in details, the document he created was very comprehensive and easy to understand(my insurance agent love it).
Plus the whole appraising procedure took about an hour and everything was done in front of me.

I purchased an engagement ring and had it appraised at Los Angeles International Gemological Laboratory by Paul Shikhvarger. I want to let people know that my experience with Paul was excellent. He confirmed everything in my GIA certificate which made me feel very relieved as I purchased the ring over the Internet. His estimate of value for the diamond and knowledge about diamond pricing in general was impressive and helpful. The whole appraising procedure was made in front of me, took about an hour and fee was reasonable.

Paul and his staff are very professional in all that they do. My Seller Boris, sent in a ring for them to appraise. They have went out of their way to make sure that I have the correct appraisal and that everything was appraised correctly.
They are sending me a corrected copy of the appraisal as the ring examined turns out to be both 14kt and 18kt Gold. I am very happy about that as we first thought that it was just 14kt. He got the appraisal right and is on the money with the Diamond being 1.75cts.
I suggest that everyone with jewelery that want's to have it appraised the right way and correct way, to visit or send your item's to Paul to have appraised.
Wonderful company and they are THE BEST!!!
