Charges Reversed Thanks to Trust Link
Protect My ID charged my credit card $29.95 without my realizing it. When I called the company to complan, I got the run-around and double talk. I filed a complaint with the BBB, which through its TrustLink resolved the problem and got me a refund. So it's congrats to TrustLink for resolving the problem.
Protect My ID should make it significantly plainer on its sign-up Web site that a credit card is being charged and for how much, thus avoiding alleged misunderstandings by the consumer. In addition, customers who want refunds should not have to resort to filing a complaint with the BBB when the consumer's grievance is legitimate as it was in this case.
The only kudos I can give to Protect My Id is for finally agreeing to refund my $29.95 after TrustLine contacted it.

Scam!
I wanted to look at my credit report and Protect My Id offered the report for a dollar and some change. Once you enter all the information, you are agreeing to a membership (which I didn't realize I was doing). I recently saw a charge in my bank statement and called them today. They will not refund the recent charge once I canceled my membership. I feel as though I was tricked into the membership by paying a dollar for my report. I am really ticked off and unhappy with them.

guys i want you all to realize that protectmyid.com is similar to other companies offering the same product. it offers a free trial which means to try out and it even states if you dont call and cancel within your free trial that you will be charged. now overdraft fees dont go with the membership fee. its not Protectmyid.com's fault that you dont have money in your account for the credit/debit card you provided to us as well as your social security number, name, date of birth, email address, mailing address, phone number. so you gotta be really nosy to give them all your information then go and be stupid by saying you never signed up for the membership, check your inbox people, protectmyid.com sends you welcome emails that contain a customer number as well as MAIL you a membership card. come on guys. be smart online. dont give your credit card number if you dont want to be charged or dont have money to work with.

Protectmyid is a great membership if you are interested in having your credit reports monitored daily and also for Identity theft protection. If you are only interested in a credit report, protectmyid is not for you. There is a $1 charge for your experian report, if you order all 3 it is $24.95. Which you have to read and just not assume that all 3 reports and scores are a $1. It is an experian based membership, thats why you get your experian report for a $1. So instead of bashing a product, because people dont read the terms and conditions and just assume what you get, is not the right way to go. People should be held accountable for there own actions and not start crying it was a scam or fraud for not reading everything and assuming!! If you are interested in monitoring and ID protection, this is the membership for you. If you just want a report, go to Annualcreditreport, which is free each year, calendar year to get your reports and not sign up for a monitoring membership to get a report and then forget and call in crying about this is fraud, I did not sign up for this and all that b.s.. I hope this helps to all the people that feel they have been scammed, for something that they did in the first place by signing up.

The Price of a Credit Report is not worth dealing with this company. Please don't trust what is said to you.
Protect My ID. Has a promotional online that states you can get a trial period which includes your reports from the credit bureau for 1.00. I enrolled on March 2th. I canceled several accounts I was dealing with on Friday, March 4th, so I called there help line 1-866-579-2218 and spoke to their billing department. I had a horrible time getting this girl to cancel this account. I explained to her that I knew I had more time but that I needed to cancel it now to make sure it got canceled. I assumed when I got off the phone it was canceled until yesterday, March 12th when I saw it pending on my checking account for the amount of 12.95. I called the company spoke with a man named Jacob and he understood and canceled the account for the second time and credited me the 12.95. I explained to him that if the 12.95 got released and it went thru my bank that my bank would put on 34.00 NSF fees and he said if that happens call us back. We will take care of that for you. I again thought ok that is taken care of . When I reviewed my checking account today, March 13th, I saw that the 12.95 had been released and the bank had released it and also applied the 34.00 NSF Fee. I called the company back. I spoke to a gentlemen named Jeremy in the Help Center. He refused to credit that 34.00 stating the company had done nothing wrong. So I asked to speak to a supervisor in which he switched me over to a woman named Amber. She listened to what I had to say then said the same thing Jeremy had said. She refused to credit the amount at all. She did give me the fax number to Customer Relations and said to fax them and request the 34.00 back with them. She refused to give me her supervisors name and phone number or an email or phone number to Customer Relations even after I explained that I had no fax machine nor the money to pay to have it faxed. I also asked how I was suppose to even why out if they received it since I had no phone number to reach them. She did not care. She told me the only date that showed I cancel my account was the 12th and the company credited me the 12.95 so the company did nothing wrong. Both the people I spoke to today could have cared less about my business.
IF YOU ARE SMART AND I KNOW UNFORTUNATELY MOST PEOPLE DON'T LOOK AT THESE REVIEWS TILL AFTERWARDS BUT IF YOU HAPPEN TO DON'T LET THESE PEOPLE HAVE YOUR BUSINESS. WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE LAST THIS YOU WILL NOT GET ANY HELP MONITORING YOUR CREDIT BUREAU OR ANY THING ELSE.

As someone who has had identity theft happen to them in the past, I feel so much better having a good product like ProtectMyID! I've had a few instances where I was alerted to some activity on my credit file that was fraudulent and was able to nip it in the bud with help of their friendly agents. I cannot say enough good things about this company. They really are there for you when you need them!

BEWARE! They are running a special with Experian right now. I signed up for the $1.06 sign-up fee, and then after that it said they charge you $14.95 a month for the membership, but if you cancel within the 7 day trial period, you won't get charged. Ok, I understood all that and planned to cancel within the 7 day period so I could see my credit report (part of what's included in your membership). When I signed up I entered my CC info so they could charge me the initial fees. I clicked on the first thing I saw to view my report, it brought up a PDF file and I printed it off...later that day I looked at my bank acct and noticed not only was I charged the $1, but I had a separate charge for $24.95, which didn't make since to me since they said the montly fee was $14.95. So I called and they said it was for the credit report that I printed out. NEVER, anywhere did I get a warning or asked permission to charge that amount to my card. They used my credit card without authorization. After calling and arguing with two people and talking to a manager they agreed to only refund me $10 of the money, which is bullshit. I should have disputed it with my bank too but it just wasn't worth the anguish of dealing with those frauds.

SCAM!! BEWARE!! They claim you can run your credit report for $1.00. But surprise! In order to view it, they sign you up for their membership for 10.78 per month. They forget to tell you this though, until you get your credit card statement. Fighting with them is pointless. You won't get a refund. Just cancel it (if they let you. Please don't use this service. You will feel very duped. And, in fact, you have been.

DO NOT SIGN UP!!! I called to cancel my membership and they continued to bill me for another 6 months. When I called to try to get a reimbursement, they told me they had no record of me calling in to cancel. I CALLED IN SPECIFICALLY TO CANCEL AND REMEMBER EVERYTHING ABOUT THE CANCELLATION CONVERSATION! They did not reimburse me for the months that they charged me even after I canceled. There is no point of having $12.95 automatically billed every month to "monitor your credit" if you have to still purchase your credit report for another $9.95 just for one Experian credit report. If you check your credit report regularly or twice a year, do not sign up for it! It will cost you $155.40 a year to "monitor your credit" when you can monitor it yourself by checking your credit report for a fraction of the price or for free. We can get a FREE annual credit report and even if you pay for your credit report, it'll still be cheaper than their $12.95/month fee which equals out to $155.40/year. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY!!

As a financial professional, I am very concerned about ID theft. The cost and risk associated with it can be great. After having reviewed the services being offerred, I found it to be of good value, and will be signing up the rest of my family.

I thought I was just buying my credit report one time, but noticed they were charging me $9.99 every month after on my credit card. When I called for a credit they said I opted for this service in terms and agreements when I bought my report. They do not make it clear that you will be charged for a service you don't want, that is certain. They are dishonest and sneaky and they will not give you money back.

Recently, I requested a free credit report. I was unable to bypass a screen which forced you to opt in to this company's service. I opted in because I could not find any other way to obtain the report. I check my bank statement frequently and noticed they had charged my account. The charge posted as a pending charge and I called immediately to cancel. Several days later, they had not issued a credit. I called them back and they refused to credit my account and pretty much said that because I called several minutes after they had charged me, they would not issue a refund. I am currently disputing the charge with my bank. It was not a lot of money but I refuse to be bullied into paying for something I did not want. Beware of this company, this is a scam. By law, we are entitled to a free report and I am not sure what they are doing is even legal. They will not work with you to resolve any issues and the customer service representatives are extremely rude when you call.
