Feedback for treatment taken at Sovereign Health of California

I heard about Sovereign Health I did a basic search on Google and I found a place called [Tar] and then they checked my insurance to see what facilities in Southern California were available and then they referred me here. I also looked on the website and the website was also very welcoming. It would just make me feel like okay this is some place that I wanted to be. It let you know everything you need to know even when I will call here ask questions everybody is very polite and friendly and would answer my questions thoroughly. I went straight into the apartments upon coming here and it was just a warm welcome when I first got here. The staffs were very welcoming as well as just the clients. I could tell that the clients were happy so that immediately made me comfortable. The groups have been very, very good to me. The relapse prevention group is amazing because that is always one of my major concerns and I have relapsed before and so that was concern for me on how to maintain not relapsing was very important to me. I just want to thank you guys. You guys have really helped me and guided me into the next step of my life. You know you just don’t throw people out and you know out into the world and they had no idea and if they feel like it is a waste of time I know for me I put in a lot of work here and you guys gave a lot of work and a lot of information and provided a lot of coping skills for me and I will never forget this place. You know I would love to come back one day on a Sunday when we have our morning family groups and talk and tell my story about where I came from and how Sovereign really helped me. So I just want to say thank you to everybody here.

Sovcal Review

Well my parents pretty much told me about the Sovereign Health program and they kind of got me into it because I wasn’t doing so well in life. I looked at the website and thought this would be a good idea because it is by the beach and stuff like that and it is nice out here so yeah that is why I choose this one. My experience here has been great actually I met a lot of new people to stay sober with after this program. I got in contact with sober living through this program, all the staff here is great. You go on cool outings and stuff so I like that and it is just a nice program and they teach you a lot of tools to deal with your problems and afterwards as well if you go back to home or wherever you go so that is really good.

Sovcal Treatment Review

When I first come to Sovereign I had a lot of behavioral problems and I acted out emotionally and through going to the groups and meeting with my therapist and the counseling that was provided here. I can safely say that today some of those behavioral issues have gotten under control. I really have enjoyed the symptom management group and that has helped me to identify my symptoms and to be able to deescalate, disengage, be mindful and awareness of certain situations. I have also enjoyed the stages of change group because it helps prepare you for you know various changes that life may bring to you. My least favorite group is probably Brain Wellness just because it is a PowerPoint and it is kind of boring but other than you know all of the counselors and therapists and the people that run the group do an amazing, wonderful job and I have learned a lot through you know different trials and being able to put into practice the things I have learned in group with my peers. The houses are very beautiful, very comfortable, very home-like setting. It is you know there are various occasions I have been in two of the houses including and the apartments, the Calle Real House it was a wonderful setting and there was a deck that looked over the ocean and you know the house managers were great. My peers were wonderful. I mean when you get a group of girls together in a house you know there can be a couple of tips here and there but you learn how to just disengage and you know focus on yourself. I also was in the Cordoba House for my mental health and that house was wonderful it had a beautiful view. It was just amazing a beautiful home. We had the opportunity to cook and I got to bake and you do all these wonderful things and as I progressed in my treatment and showed progress I was able to move to what they call the apartments which is you know it is more of a little step down we have a little bit of more freedom and you know we get to go to Walmart or different places as needed and it is not so structured as far as having to stay in the house all the time and I really taken a liking to that and I enjoy being there.

Thanks Sovcal

I was seeking professional help in here to do things, everything which I need to do to get your life on check and we go to the gym every morning which I would look forward to we have the best food I mean I am doing better here than I have at home. We have great food and just the house managers and they are great and I feel great. Today I can say I am going to go back a whole different person. Feeling like this is all I need you know never say never but I don’t plan to come to another rehab not that this was bad but for me I just need a jump start in my life. I feel really good I feel great.

Overall experience at Sovereign Health of California

I heard about Sovereign Health through my dad who is a recovering addict for 10 years. His sponsor said that this was a great place and that he had sent his own sister here. Some of my favorite groups here at Sovereign were anger management. I learned a lot from the nutrition groups. I had a great therapist. She asked me the right questions to see how I was feeling to get out of my thoughts and Brandon was great. My suggestion for the new people coming in to Sovereign is give it some time. You have to learn how to surrender and it is going to take a while to get used to changes but if you come with an open mind, you realize that this is bettering your future then there is a lot to get out of this place. I enjoyed they take me out at the beach which is great. Get to play a little basketball and it is not all work, so some fun stuff to do here too.

Helped My Friend

My friend recently went to Sovereign to detox from opiates and anxiety pills. There was a time when I didnt know if she would ever get help... She recently completed treatment and is doing realy well now and is continuing to go to meetings and spend time with people in recovery. I am really glad this place was able to help her because she had been using for over ten years. This is a really amazing transformation and I am grateful.

had to check out early!

Sovereign staff have absolutely no control over their clients. They make you sign a contract that you will not participate in verbal abuse, will not play loud music, will wear appropriate attire, will not hold hands..ie. fraternize with anyone of the opposite sex. When all of these rules are broken in front of staff, not a single thing is done about it. They put people with severe mental issues in the house with people who just have an addiction. When several clients complain to the director, they do not remove the person from the house. Thefts have occurred, verbal abuse has continued. Their solution to the problem is to move the person complaining to the mental health facility. They billed my insurance for 7 psychiatric treatments, when I only had one visit. Kids are practically having sex in front of them, they will not put a stop to it. Their solution is to make it a topic at a family meeting, and it still continues. I did not feel safe there in the house. They ought to name the place "Nut cases gone wild."

Sovereign Health of California Treatment Center

I heard about Sovereign treatment center through my EAP (Employee Assistance Program) where I work. With the actual program, when I got here and then I started, the first week was revolutionary in my thoughts about a lot of things. I was learning so much, very quickly. The nutritionist totally made me look differently with my relationship with food. She would paint a lot of pictures and give us metaphors, which helped bring our heads back to normal. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy was very personalized. So we could talk about what was going on in my life, and I found that really helpful. The medical doctor, Dr. Snyder was revolutionary for me. I had never had a doctor who seemed to care so much about me as a person, especially not a medical doctor. He was very blunt, he was to the point sometimes, but I appreciated that. I have very positive feelings generally about most of the staff here, at Sovereign. I think that the first part is that they all care. For somebody who is planning to come in to Sovereign, I would give them advice. Just know that you are in good hands.
