I would like some views from anyone who has experienced Kaplan Online University; and suggestions on what online programs are not scams.

Good morning, Renee;

I am sending you the link to the BBB Reliability Report for Kaplan University.

When choosing a school, remember that credits are not always transferable. So if you think that may be important to you, it's best to find out before enrolling. It is important to make sure the school you are enrolling in is accredited from one of the six regional accreditation boards. The US Dept of Education has a searchable database of accredited post-secondary schools that you can access. The link below will take you to their website.

Hi Renee, I don't have any firsthand experience with Kaplan but my understanding is that they are a legitimate, accredited school. I believe Kaplan also has actual brick & mortar schools--not just online.

As far as other ones, it depends on what you want to go into? Are you looking for a Bachelors degree? Associates? Certificate? Ashworth University and Penn Foster are both online and accredited and offer Bachelor Degree Programs and also offer low tuition and easy payment plans. Remember that a lot of employers will help with tuition! Also, the University of WI-Platteville, offers a Bachelors degree also online and have for many years. They are definitely accredited and are a part of the University of WI system. The UW system includes about 17 campuses across the state with the largest one being in Madisn, WI. They are probably more expensive but you could probably get financial aid.

Ihope this has been helpful! Good luck!
