I am doing some research for my brother and his wife. They have a time share which they are trying to sell. iCare Timeshare Marketing Group Inc. in Ft. Lauderdale FL has offered to help sell it form them for a fee. Not sure about the company and not sure how to research them other than run a quick report on BBB. Dun & Brad's charges min. 40.00 for a report. Is there anyway to research a company to make sure they are legit and that you are not getting into some scam - since they are asking for their fee upfront. (roughly 600.00). Not sure if they should risk the 600.00 or pay the 40.00 for a report or just put their timeshare up on craigslist. Any suggestions?

Dianne, You may want to review the BBB Reliability Report for the business at http://www.seflorida.bbb.org/Business-Report/ICare-Timeshare-Marketing-Group-Inc-92016536

Generally, this type of company is not going to relieve you of your financial responsibility to the timeshare. They only offer to market it for you, though it is not unusual for some to imply that they've lined up a purchaser to induce you to engage them in a contract.

The resale market is decidedly weak for timeshares so you spending money to market it may be unwise. There are some companies that will actually take ownership of the timeshare but they do charge advance fees, but you will be relieved of the various payments associated with the cost of the timeshare.
