The California Private Investigator Book by Shaun Sundahl is the way to go!

I recently passed the Ca. Private Investigator's course. All I did to prepare was read the book, The California Private Investigator, by Shaun Sundahl. It not only prepared me for the test, but for the opening the business. After 27 years in law enforcement, I was nervous about where to find information in the private sector, new laws to me, etc. The book answered all my questions and more. It goes into marketing, and business structure which was huge in my situation, and much more. In addition, I have texted Shaun several times with questions. He is humble enough to take time out of his day and give informative detailed responses, that are invaluable. Where else can you start texting the author of a book with questions and get immediate answers. My hat is off to Shaun and his team. A truly bright, nice, educated man willing to help others.
***His book is THE ONLY material that I used for the test. Forget the nonsense that the state and PSI recommend; save your money. I would however, if taking it over, purchase the practice questions from Shaun. While I did pass, and the book did prepare me, I believe that the test is poorly worded. The more practice test you can take, the better.
