There are insurance benefits with Health Option One. To have payment made directly to the doctor or hospital you must goto a provider within the Beechstreet PPO network. The portion of your policy where it states "this is not health insurance" are the pages that apply to the discount portion of your plan. Notice it is not written under your hospital confinement, doctor or surgical benefits. The benefits stated in the policy are exactly what you will get. It is NOT a major medical coverage. I hope this helps.

Sherry, I did finally get through but as soon as I said that I wanted to cancel, I was transferred to a cancellation voicemail box with a recording. The recording said that you had to send in writing a request to cancel and to e-mail cancellations@unitedconsumer.org. It also stated to include your member ID and detailed reason for cancellation. Further, I would receive a reply e-mail in 24 hours stating that my cancellation had been received. Well, it has been 5 business days now and NO reply. I am going to keep sending the e-mail every day until something happens. Thanks for your answer!
Adam, There was NO mention of a Beechstreet PPO network. I was told I could go to ANY doctor and pay a co-pay. There was NO mention that this was a discount plan and NOT major medical or insurance. The part where "this is not health insurance" was written on the drug card. According to the sales people a co-pay rx plan was included. Thank you for your reply. The information Sherry and I were given was VERY misleading. Thanks again!

After speaking with them and then contacting the BBB, I have come to the conclusion they are a scam.

I am FURIOUS with Health Options One. A salesman named Greg Alan which maybe a phony name, sold me the policy. After finding out that he lied about a few important things such as the real coverage-no surgery when he said that there was surgery included, I cancelled the plan within about 2 -3 hours after I enrolled. I got a refund-thank goodness-since I cancelled within 24 hours. MEANWHILE, United Health Solutions working for Health Options One sent my credit card number and info to Fidelity Life Assn for the Accidental Death and Dsimemberment policy. My card was charged on 8/26/11 without my knowledge. On 8/29, I received the "policy" with a claim that I would be billed $26.32 per month. This was in addition to the cost of the Health One Options. This was supposed to be included according to their great rep. Now, I have to follow up with them to cancel the insurance and get my money refunded for a policy I said that I did not want. Both of these groups-United health Solutions and Health Options One seem to be working together to defraud customers.

Janet- Exactly a year to the day (August 30th)- you and I experienced the same frustration with Health Options One. It appears that not much has changed. I no longer do business with a company that I do not know well of or know someone who speaks highly of them. I was at the point a year ago---I had lost my health insurance and was not able to find coverage---and wanted to believe that this was the right solution. I am sorry to hear that this happened to you as well. The only reason I posted on TrustLink (a year ago) was to hopefully help someone else not go through this expereince. It appears there has been 7,690 views of this page--so I hope it has. You are not alone---and hopefully the lesson we can take from this will serve us better in future decisions. Thanks for posting! Joy R.

I think the problem is you all "hear" what you want to hear. There is no way I would give out my credit card information unless I knew what I was purchasing. Don't play the "I was forced" to buy anything game because you could have easily hung up the phone and not purchased anything. Health Option One is limited medical. If you don't qualify for major medical, for some, it's better than nothing but honestly speaking.. if you're paying 150 a month, what do you expect them to cover? Common sense goes a long way.
