Business license belongs to another company

I am currently looking for a painting contractor for my mother.
I was referred by an enthusiastic neighbor to Michael's Painting & Flooring Company of Anaheim, CA. They worked on his house. They seemed to have done a good job from what I saw. Crew showed up every day except Sundays and worked a full shift, cleaned up at the end of each day. This painter was referred to our neighbor by another satisfied customer in our tract.
When checking his license number on the BBB database, I found it belonged to another business.
Is this a warning that I should steer clear of them in spite of the recommendations of 2 neighbors?

Don,
If you can provide the full name of the contractor and the license number he is using, I will be able to research this for you? Let me know, I happy to help!

Don,
I received your message but wanted to reply in this forum in the event others have fallen victim to this so-called contractor. The contractors license # does not appear to have any association to Michael's Painting & Flooring Company at that Anaheim address. As a matter of fact, that address is a residence.
I suggest you contact the Contractor State License Board and ask them to search by Michael's first and last name and if he is not in fact licensed, report him for unlicensed activity. Here's the link to CSLB: http://www.cslb.ca.gov/Consumers/ReportUnlicensedActivity/
