Electric Linear Actuators in Loading Systems: Can They Replace Hydraulics in Heavy-Duty Conditions?
|

Had a tough time last year with our hydraulic loading arm — leaks everywhere and constant pressure drops. We swapped it out for an electric linear actuator as a test, thinking it might not handle the heavy cycles. To my surprise, it’s been working without any hiccups for months now. No messy oil, quieter, and way easier to maintain. Makes me wonder if hydraulics are becoming outdated for these tasks.

I ran into similar issues switching from hydraulics to electric actuators in our warehouse lifts. This is what I use Mechanical Systems Actuators:

. The electric actuators there are built tough for industrial use and handle repetitive loads surprisingly well. They’ve made the system cleaner and more reliable, though for some of the heaviest lifts, hydraulics still hold the edge.

It’s funny how some equipment surprises you by lasting way longer than expected while others fail just when you need them most. There’s always a bit of uncertainty when trying new tech, but that’s what keeps the work interesting.
