Geomembrane is used in many places where controlling liquid movement is important. One common application is landfill construction, where geomembranes can form part of liner systems designed to control leachate migration. Wastewater treatment facilities also use geomembranes in ponds, lagoons, and storage areas to reduce seepage. In agriculture, lined reservoirs and ponds can use geomembrane to help retain irrigation or stored water. Mining projects may use geomembranes in process-water ponds, heap-leach systems, and other containment structures where chemical compatibility is especially important. Industrial facilities can install liners beneath storage areas, wastewater systems, or secondary containment zones. Geomembranes are also used in canals and artificial water bodies where seepage control is required.
