We recently started using an automated calling system at our small family business to remind customers about appointments, and it definitely saves us time. The problem is that I keep hearing stories about companies getting into trouble because of calling rules, and now I'm worried we're missing something important. We only contact people we believe want to hear from us, but I'm not sure if that's enough. For anyone who's been through this, what habits or processes helped you stay on the safe side without making the whole system too complicated?

We had a similar concern after adding automated calls for appointment reminders. At first we assumed that because our customers had done business with us before, everything was fine, but after reading more we realized we needed to be much more careful about consent, keeping records, and giving people an easy way to stop future calls. We also reviewed our scripts and checked that our contact lists stayed up to date instead of reusing old numbers forever. I found this guide helpful because it explains the kinds of legal issues businesses should pay attention to in plain language: https://usattorneys.com/reducing-legal-risks-in-automated-calling-systems/. It gave us a good checklist before we expanded our calling campaigns.
