I live in Florida and I did a little research on RA Law Group out of Glendale, CA. I did not find any negative info. Does anyone have any input on them at all, positive or negative? I read the BBB report and reviews. I am a little worried since they don't reside in my state, but I can't find anyone else in Florida with their credentials. And I need to hire a law firm ASAP, I got served with a Summons today. Can anyone give me some advice?

They do charge a flat retainer fee, and they split it in two payments to make it easier. That cover the entire modification process, it can take 3-6 months.
But all the law firms I spoke with charge a retainer fee, whether it's a flat fee or monthly. Nobody takes your case without any money upfront.
They have very good reviews with the BBB also A rating. Here is the link to prove it: http://www.la.bbb.org/Business-Report/RA-Law-Group-100079314.
Everyone else I checked out have lower ratings or complaints against them on the BBB website, or they don't even exist there.
Is there anyone out there I can trust?
I tried doing it myself for 1 year now, and I can't get anywhere, the lender will not work with us, so this is my last resort.
Thank you for your advise.,

By the way, charging fees in advance is not supposed to be legal in Florida either.

Foreclosure Rescue Fraud Prevention Act, Fla. Stat. § 501.1377: In October 2008, Florida enacted the Foreclosure Rescue Fraud Prevention Act of 2008 to protect consumers by requiring that companies and individuals offering loan modification services complete their services before charging consumers a fee.

Here is a BBB report from BBB San Diego. The company has an F rating due to complaints but here is some good advice about loan modification companies.

Effective October, 2009 in California, it is illegal to collect any fees, regardless of the form, for negotiating or attempting to negotiate a loan modification for a residential mortgage. All modification services must be fully completed before any money can be collected. It is also illegal to divide fees or services into components for the purpose of avoiding this law.

HUD approved housing counseling agencies are exempt from this law.
