Investing in life settlements involves purchasing an interest in existing life insurance policies from policyholders who no longer need or want them. The investor provides capital for the policy and may receive the death benefit when the insured person passes away, after accounting for premiums and other costs. Unlike traditional investments that depend heavily on stock or bond markets, life settlements are linked primarily to mortality outcomes. However, investors should carefully evaluate policy costs, expected duration, provider or manager experience, and regulatory considerations before investing.
