http://www.bbb.org/utah/business-reviews/credit-repair-services-no-advance-fee/lexington-law-firm-in-salt-lake-city-ut-2000829

This firm shows almost 272 complaints in the past 36 months. They have done extensive advertising over the past several years and they claim exemption from the Credit Repair Organizations Act because they are a law firm.

Here's our general information reports covering credit repair and credit report issues - you ought to look at these before you sign on with a credit repair firm - maybe you can take care of the derogatory items on your credit report yourself.

The FTC also offers credit repair information at: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre13.shtm

Do it yourself credit repair takes time and the paperwork can be a pain, but it's worth it. In addition to disputing items you think are incorrect with the credit bureaus, you can dispute directly with the data furnishers themselves. Make sure you opt out of prescreened credit offers - junk debt collectors use these lists to find former debtors.

Lexington Law is an excellent firm - they are one of the few legitimate firms who can actually get the job done. There is no quick fix - dont get sucked into a firm that says they can fix your credit overnight. Credit repair is about correcting wrong information, not scamming the system when you were legitimately late on your bills. http://www.lexingtonlaw.com

I Tried Lexington law firm years ago. They did dispute things on my credit report. But if you don't pay for the $80.00 a month plan the process is very slow. They dispute 1 item a month. And the same items that Lexington law had removed has come back on my report! I'm not sure if this is standard but I'm not want going to use them again. Another thing I noticed about Lexington is that if the item doesn't come off the first time then they will continue to dispute it, I'm not sure if that is effective or not but I am going to try Sky Blue. They are BBB accredited, and Lexington is not. Sky blue has a standard fee, and are real attorneys that I are notified as soon as the laws change when dealing with credit repair.

Any credit repair organization may help to negotiate and repay your debts with time, but they certainly can't help to improve your credit score. No one really can do it for you. About repaying, you may also have a word or two with your creditor or CA and see if you can set up a repayment plan with them. Once your debts are paid off, then also you'll need some time before your credit score improves.

I don't know why anyone would pay for credit repair when there are free consumer services such as "Bad Credit MD" http://www.badcreditmd.com
