Kmk,

I haven't used John Towers Financial Services however based on their BBB report they have a D rating due to a pattern of unethical complaints alleging John Towers Financial Services requests upfront fee's and thereafter no services are provided.

I urge you read the entire report and the complaints.

Have you tried calling a HUD-approved nonprofit housing counselor? You can speak with a certified counselor by calling 888-995-4673. They can evaluate your housing options, open lines of communication with mortgage lenders, negotiate a loan modification, and help you with household budgeting, all at no cost.

The California Attorney General's press release on "forensic loan audits" is posted here on TrustLink under New Scams.

For more info on loan modification, check out the LABBB's Facebook page at:

Specifically, check out the "Notes" on various loan mod topics and info that can apply to homeowners anywhere.

Also, check out the "loan modification" tagged questions here on this forum.

Once the real estate market fell, these companies came out of the cracks and now are a-dime-a-dozen. There are so many that when they finally close one down, two more start up.

Consumer awareness seems to be the only hope to stop these companies from further victimizing the public.

With government agencies experiencing budget cuts, consumers need to be more resourceful and use the BBB and Trustlink sites and resources to educate themselves prior to them signing on the dotted line.
