ReconTrust Company is attempting to "foreclose" on our property. I believe they are fraudulent and NOT affiliated with BofA. Anyone have their own experience with them? They're IMPOSSIBLE to contact other than automated phone. Thanks

Call BofA ask if they sold your mortgage and if so the name of the company they sold it to. If they haven't or the company name they give you doesn't match, you're probably right. Notify your legal mortgage holder and ask them for advice on handling the scam. Chances are they've seen it before and know what you should do. If they aren't any help, contact a lawyer or paralegal firm. DO NOT try to deal with scammers yourself without a plan. DO NOT attempt to arrange payment unless you confirm they are legitimate if you arrange payment you BECOME liable for the amount you agree you owe.

A.R.,

Recontrust is a valid Foreclosure company (Attorney) hired by Bank of America to manage its foreclosure proceedings here in CA. They are NOT a scam.

Unfortunately, your calls should be directed at Bank of America to discuss either a reinstatement plan, a repayment plan, a mortgage modification or a short-refinance on your home or, if possible, find another company to refinance your mortgage to another service provider to cure this situation.

Based upon my 20 yrs in the real estate industry and 5 yrs of mortgage counseling, these are the only viable options to cure foreclosure once Bank of America has substituted the Trustee to RECONTRUST and recorded the Notice of Default and/or Notice of Trustee Sale against your home.

Additionally, if you need help with any of these options, please contact my offices. My consultations are FREE of charge. And if you need my services, my company is compliant with CA State (SB94) and Federal Trade Commission rules restricting against upfront fees being collected until my efforts are successful.

Lastly, I am currently, petitioning the regulatory agency for another BofA homeowner where BofA filed the Notice of Default into public records with an incorrect arrears due figure which nullifies their right to pursue foreclosure! We are forcing them to go back and audit their files, rescind the current Notice of Default and stay any foreclosure proceedings against the customer.
