Here is a BBB report on The Law Office of Stephen L. Burns and you can see that the rating is very low and the report includes this verbiage, "On September 21, 2009 the California Bar Association announced that this law firm and its principal Stephen Burns are under investigation in connection with "misconduct related to loan modification businesses." Although Bar investigations are generally confidential until formal charges are filed, confidentiality may be waived when warranted for protection of the public. The investigation is currently pending."

Do you have an address for D and A Services? The BBB serving the LA area does not have a report.

The D and A services is in the same office and claims that they are separate from the law firm but transferring some of the employees to their service but also able to use the ones who still works for the law office the. They claim to have a website but cannot find any information on them at all.

Have you already paid Stephen Burns, Tanya? It sounds like you have. If not, you should be in touch with your lender asap and make sure your documentation is in order or talk to a HUD certified counselor asap - call 888-995-4673. File a complaint with your state bar & Attorney General.

Do not sign anything with D and A, whoever they are.

Good luck, it sounds like a very stressful situation.
