My husband and I bought two timeshares from Wyndham and now that he has passed away I can not afford them. I still owe on both timeshares and can not afford the monthly payments or maintance fees any longer. This company - Financial Services (Timeshare) in San Diego, CA 92101 called me one day. Not sure how they got my cell phone number and said they had a buyer. They sent me documents via email stating they had down payments from the buyer and for me to sign the forms and mail them a check for a certain dollar amount and that within 30 days I will be able to close and receive the balance of the sell. I am scared to send money up front, afraid I will loose my money and get nothing in return.

Trust your gut on this one. The way it works is the timeshare salesperson asks the person for a check to close the deal and then guess what, the deal falls through and they claim the money was for marketing or some other thing that is not refundable. If it's a true sale then tell them to deduct the fee from the proceeds of the sale and forward the rest to you. They won't. It sure sounds like the average setup. Don't be a victim.

Many new timeshare cancellations companies have appeared online recently claiming to assist clients who have become victims of timeshare scam to cancel their timeshare contracts and recover their money from timeshare fraud. These new companies claim that they can help to provide timeshare relief, cancel or divorce you from your timeshare or even donate the timeshare to a worthy cause. Many of the timeshare cancellation companies have very vague statements about how their fees are charged. Some claim to have a money back guarantee, which implies that an upfront fee is required: http://www.timesharescam.com/blog/71-timeshare-cancellation-companies/
