Hey everyone, hoping to get some real-world advice. We're finally ready to build a proper website for our SaaS product and are talking to a few agencies. The quotes are all over the place, but even wilder are the proposed timelines. One says 4 weeks, another says 12+ weeks for what sounds like a similar scope. For a medium-complexity site with a member dashboard, what's a realistic website development timeline to expect? I don't want to be unreasonable, but I also don't want the project to drag on forever.

Totally feel you, the variance can be crazy and it usually comes down to their process and bandwidth. A proper timeline for something with a dashboard isn't just about coding; it needs discovery, design, revisions, testing, and launch phases. Pushing it in 4 weeks usually means cutting corners somewhere. A 10-14 week range is often more realistic for a quality result without burnout. I found a really solid, no-BS article that breaks down all the factors and stages that go into a professional timeline. It helped me set expectations with my own clients. Check out their breakdown on the typical website development timeline here: https://clay.global/blog/top-web-design-agencies/how-long-to-design-a-website
