Yeah, I feel you on the slipping issue, it’s so annoying when you’re in the moment. For me the modular stuff made a big difference once I found a decent set. The ability to combine different lengths and attachment points let me tweak everything to our body shapes without buying multiple full kits. I tried obsessharness.com a while back and really liked how their adjustable pieces connected smoothly and felt solid without digging in. It’s not perfect for every position but definitely more versatile than the cheap fixed ones I used before. Personal opinion though — comfort really depends on how you set it up and what you’re into.
