I am a sound engineer working locally. Needing an audio power amplifier I went into the Patton Avenue Alan's Pawn and found what looked like one I needed. (Behringer EP1500 tagged at $399.00) I spoke with John who was very helpful, but could not offer any way to look up the specifications. He did however offer me a discount. I took down the information and went to the Tunnel Road store to see if they had anything comparable. Seeing nothing I went home and found the Amp to be close to what I was looking for. I also discovered the same amp new on line for $180.00, but could save time by getting this one locally.
I purchased the amp at Alan's for $323.21 after taxes. That night at my concert I found that only half of the stereo amp worked, and had to use a lower power substitute. Hoping for a reliable amplifier I found a much better amp for the same price. The following Monday I returned to the store, where Hector advised I cannot get a refund, only exchange it or get a store credit. Looking around the store there is nothing that I could even remotely use, like the store credit. Now because of budgeting concerns I cannot purchase the amp I need for this coming weekend. I am disappointed with the store policy and not working with me on this defective equipment.
I returned again the next day to ask for a $300.00 loan. They said they need collateral. Well you have my $323.21, how about that? No can do. Now what am I to do?
Update: Alan's contacted me to try and work something out.
Sincerely,
Alan P
