Review 8/6/2011
I was excited to start a new venture with ARN, but when I went to the orientation meeting what was spoken there was different from what was said in the first audition meeting. If you go to the audition he talks about the different phases. The 1st phase is nothing but the training and that is all you focus on. When you get to the orientation meeting he says that in phase 1 you have to pay $24 to the station every week you are in phase 1 because you are considered an independent producer. Which in the audition meeting he tells you have the choice of becoming an independent producer in phase 2. Plus you also have to use your own music for your personal music library for your radio show. You could use theirs but its very limited. When you move to phase 2 the paperwork still shows you have to pay unless you audition for his company or cancel your contract. I found it interesting that he had you sign a contract while in the first phase which is supposed to be training. You don't even get paid unless you do commercial which you get assigned 2-5 per week(maybe) and only get paid $5.00 per commercial. I felt that something was fishy with this. I also thought it was odd that they wanted the deposit for the press pass before we started the orientation meeting. When I left the orientation meeting I had a bad feeling but I thought that it was just because I heard wrong. When I was putting my music choices together I had a question, so I called the radio station to speak with one of the trainers. The receptionist was rude and kept telling me that I would be told everything I needed to know when I came in, and that all I need to do was "show up!" So my bad feeling came back and I went on to read reviews on-line. I couldn't find anything positive. Some of the advice given by people that completed the program and tried to get employed (which didn't happen for them) was really helpful because I wanted to still believe in this company. After reading so many reviews and finding that they received an "F" by the BBB I decided to cancel my contract. I went on the same day I was to start my first day of training, with my cancellation letter, I was under the impression that I was to give 2 weeks notice, which meant I was supposed to still do the recording plus pay the three weeks which was a total of $78.00. The gentleman there said that since I paid the three weeks fee I didn't have to stay to do the recording. So my suspicion was true, that it was just a money thing. I'm mad at myself because I fell for this scam. As far as my deposit of $98.00 I won't get back until 30 days after the two weeks is up. Which probably wont be until late Sept. My advice is to read the reviews before going to the orientation meeting. I wish I had done that first.
