BAD Business Practices

This was the worst sales experience of my life. Like many other reviewers, my experience started off great. I saw the exact make and model of the car I was looking for, it seemed to be in great condition, and was priced fairly for a used car lot (we were able to negotiate a price about 20% over retail). The owner offers wholesale parts and labor on any car you purchase there, so we figured it would be worth the price in the long run, and put a DEPOSIT down right away so that we could have it inspected by another mechanic after the weekend. I was overjoyed by how quick and easy everything seemed to be going.
Monday morning, I spoke to the owner, Tim, and made it very clear that I intended to buy the car that afternoon. He said I could pick up the car to take it to an inspection any time that afternoon, but when I arrived at the shop, there was another sales rep who really put the "used" in used car dealer. The owner had GONE OUT OF TOWN without mentioning anything to me, and the other sales rep Robert (who still was trying to hug us, high five us, and told us to call him "Fonzy") had SOLD THE CAR I PUT A DEPOSIT ON...then tried to offer me a "much better deal" for a car in much worse condition with many more miles as "an apology". It was an insulting example of a classic bait and switch.
The nightmare continued on for days! Tim promised that he would find us a comparable car and price for the one we had put the deposit on...then was impossible to get a hold of. No call backs. No emails. Was in and out of town the entire time. He even went as far as to to text us that he had a good car coming out of his shop for us to look at, then refused to send a car fax or any information, and never got back to us again.
If these people say they are going to work with you, or to correct a mistake, DO NOT BELIEVE THEM!!! Their only interest is to make as much money as possible on every car on their lot, and even a mistake as egregious as selling someone's car out from under them is not worth the small loss it would take to make the situation right.
In a nut shell, this wasted weeks of our time. It was like a parody of a sleazy used car lot. After the number of conversations we had, their lack of integrity for running a small business was appalling, especially in a small town.
