Bunch of incompetent imbeciles!
HireRight has to be the worst of the worst when it comes to performing background checks and drug screens. Their incompetence was apparent shortly after I received the initial email to complete the background form and set up my drug screen. The web page for the drug screening information is so poorly designed, it can't even provide meaningful data. For example: "You must report to the collection site before: %collectionSiteReportDate% at %collectionSiteReportTime% Ask for more time. The strings with the % signs SHOULD be a real date and a REAL time. The fact that their website is populating the customer facing page with a 'variable' name and not an actual valid value is pathetic. There is NO excuse for such poor web presence in what is supposed to a professional web site. Secondly, about a day and a half after completing my background paper work I received an email saying that they were unable to verify my previous employer. Now, when I've signed up for a credit card or a new mobile provider they have NEVER had trouble verifying my employment history. In fact, on the document that I was able to provide HireRight with to prove my previous employment, I could see the recent previous requests for said information. Including one for a credit card I recently obtained. There was no request from HireRight. I have a feeling that they didn't even try. My previous employer is not a small company. It is in fact a Fortune 100 company. You would think that a background check company would have dealt with this company on multiple occasions. Two days later they were able to finally verify my employment through the data that I provided them. (You're welcome for doing your work HireRight!) On a Friday (2 1/2 days after completing the background form and taking the drug test) I called and spoke with customer service and they were amazingly nice. They said that the last thing that needed to be done was the drug screen. They said that they could see the results were completed by the lab, but just needed to be entered into the system and it should be done by end of business that day. I checked on Monday morning.... Nothing.... Monday afternoon.... Nothing. This time I decided to use their chat service for some reason. The first person I spoke to said the same thing. 'The results are in, they just need to be put into the system.' I let the person know that I was supposed to start my job on Thursday and I needed to get the results in as soon as possible. She said the only thing she could do was to transfer me to the Health Records department. Now I am chatting with a new person from the Health Records department and she asked me to hold 3-5 minutes while she reviewed my case. 12 minutes later I finally pinged her and asked if she was still in the chat with me. She responded that I needed to call the Medical Records department of HireRight and provided me the phone number and extension. 12 minutes of holding just for you to come back and tell me to call a other department!?! By this time it was after 5:00pm Eastern and they were closed. I called first thing Tuesday morning and spoke with a gentleman who said my test was showing positive for a a prescription drug that I am on. He asked for my pharmacy name and phone number and said he would call the pharmacy to verify and if he verified then the result would be changed to a negative. NOW, why didn't the person on Friday or Monday morning or afternoon tell me that I needed to clarify one of my prescriptions?!? The gentleman said that he would have the results in by noon. I checked at 12:30pm and it was not completed. So, I called the medical records office back and got the same gentleman. I explained to him the urgency of my situation. He assured me that he would get it entered in the next hour. I checked back and the results were entered! I then requested a copy of my report and received it via email. The report showed that they did NOT verify my previous employers and it had NO mention of drug screen results. At this point alarm bells are sounding even more loudly in my head that this place has NO clue as to what they are doing. So, I called my recruiter and asked her about my previous employment verification, she said that my employment verification was fine, but they were just waiting on the drug screen. They too had been bugging HireRight for the results. I let her know that the results had just been entered and showed completed when I looked online. She said she had not received any notifications and she didn't see anything on her end about the drug screen being completed. I called HireRight the next morning and spoke to the medical records office. The lady I spoke with was amazingly actually nice and said that my results had been sent to the company as negative and were completed. I asked her if they sent an email or notification that my background check was completed to the hiring company and she said no and if the company had any questions they could call and they could give the results over the phone. I asked her for her name and she said that they don't give names out in the medical records department. Which was odd because the gentleman that I had spoken with the previous day provided his name both times I spoke with him. No big deal but an interesting inconsistency. I then called my recruiter and left a voice mail to let her know my results were completed and was told by HireRight that if there were any questions they could call to get the results over the phone. A few minutes later I received a call back from my recruiter saying that she received my voice mail AND an email from HireRight saying my results were complete. Now, I think it is beyond coincidence that within minutes of me calling HireRight asking about the completion of my background check my recruiter gets an email saying that it was completed. I believe that that something on the HireRight end had not been completed and my phone call prompted them to complete it. What would of happened had I not been so persistent and followed up with them MULTIPLE times? I have a feeling my results would of sat there at HireRight without my recruiter being able to see them. And my scheduled start date would of come and gone. HireRight has to be the the most incompetent bunch of imbeciles out there. I can't believe they are doing business with a size of the company that I am going to work for. Had HireRight screwed up any further than they did, there would have been a law suit in the works. Word to the wise.... If you are are conducting background checks on anyone for any reason, do NOT use HireRight. I can not stress that enough! If you are a prospective employee, tennant, etc. and your background check is being done by HireRight, keep on them on a regular basis. Document, document, document... You have to drive the process to completion it seems. Signed, A HireRight survivor but only because I kept on them and was persistent in following up with them.
