Absolutely disappointing experience

I worked with Mustafa Kathiria, Jess Smith, and Jeffrey (don't remember his last name but was Mustafa's supervisor). For two weeks they had me running around gathering documents, paying for an appraisal, etc. I asked repeatedly if my rate was set and my fees were set. Repeatedly they reassured me that I had nothing to worry about. The week before Christmas I called often checking on the progress of the loan. Was told from one person it was approved from another they needed more documentation. All along being assured EVERYTHING was fine and progressing as promised.
Today, I am informed that the rate has been locked in but the fees are $3000 more than I had been told at any time in the process. When I asked about my constant worry about rates and costs increasing and them continuing to reassure me I had nothing to worry about, they respond with a company line of "floating interest rates" etc, etc.
If you go with Loan Depot, understand you are working with a loan factory. They do not need your business and are more than willing to lose it if they can't keep their promises.
My advice... go with someone local and avoid feeling like you are just another loan that does or doesn't close.
