Unethical and offensive business practices
|
I sent in several 18K and 14K gold items, diamonds, pearls and sapphires, in addition to some silver jewelry. I had the items appraised before sending them and expected an offer in excess of $1300. I could not believe it when I received an offer for $165! I immediately called to ask for my items to be returned. I could tell right away that this is their method- if you call they try to negotiate. The agent acted like the person who made the offer had no idea what they were doing, and like he would take over and make me a decent offer. I refused. It was quite offensive. Do they think I am a fool? I got my items back (necklaces knotted, one earring back broken off). I could see 2 bags of items- those that were very valuable in one and the other items in another. So they knew what they were doing. I think they prey on people who are in desperate need of some money. A very bad experience and what I consider to unethical business practices. Beware.
