Review 8/12/2011
If you ar elooking for a Lawyer I would say stay steer clear of the Gordon Law Firm. I initially looked to hiring TGLF to help represent me in pursuing Wells Fargo to make a Loan Modification (Principal Balance Reduction) on our mortgage.
They looked in to taking on the case…apparently, and then came back to me and said that it would be difficult case for them to win against W.F. given my circumstances.
But, they did convince me that they we would have a much better case against the 2nd lien holder (BofA), and that there were judgments being won against them, and that they at the time had a lawsuit pending against BofA (Acosta vs Bank of NY), and so I was added to the case with a Retainer fee upfront for their services in the amount $2,500.
Well, to make a long story short…I was added to the filing in June of 2010, and not only was the GLF vary vague about the proceedings, they were extremely difficult to get a hold of. They often wouldn’t return my e-mails…or in a timely manner, my contacts voice-mail was always full, and when I called in to the office the receptionist was very rude like I was always putting her out, and I almost never received a return phone call.
So, almost 9- months later I get an e-mail from my contact there saying that the courts were wanting an “amended complaint” with the new filing to remove the verbiage from a “fraud” prospective. I was promised a copy of that amended filing, and an update on the case once that was submitted. To this date I have never received a copy of it, and until last month no one had called me or e-mailed me back in regards to the case, that is until I got a call from Mr. Chance Gordon in mid July 2011.
In my call with Mr. Gordon he had promised me a Full Refund of my Retainer ($2,500), and stating that I should have never been included in that particular filing… that my circumstances weren’t conducive to that particular case…and while almost chuckling said that some of his Team were green, but should have known this and caught it much earlier.
He also promised to look in to my original inquiry (pro-bono) about pursuing Wells Fargo for a permanent loan modification. Since that conversation with Mr. Gordon I have emailed them numerous of times reminding them about their promise to refund my money, and as of today (Fri. 8/12), to date I haven’t one received one call, e-mail or letter in response stating that they in fact will be refunding my retainer, or any mention them looking in to my case any further.
So, I’m left with the opinion that they will do nothing further for me, and if you are thinking about engaging TGLF in to any sort of relationship &/or contract…I would definitely think twice, as I can only assume that you too could expect the same sort of runaround, lack of professionalism, and a total disregard for your time, money, and stress that I have experienced with this firm.
As of right now…more than 1- year later I’m no better off than when I began this quest. If I have stopped one person from being a victim of this same sort of circumstance with them, then I guess at least one good thing has come out of all this.
