I "made a wig with my hair" Wiggin Out in Orange County, CA When asked where you can "make a wig with your hair" I have only one place to tell people about. Wiggin Out Salon
I had a custom "wig made with my hair" at a wig shop Newport Beach at Wiggin Out. I have curly human hair (and not much of it) but my type of hair is hard to find and it is very fine and soft (not like the curly hair wigs that you see in wig stores) I found out about Wiggin Out Salon after a friend did her research on the Internet. I chose Wiggin Out because they use real local wig makers. They cut my hair off in tiny sections then numbered them on a graph so the wig maker would know where to put my hair back into a cap. They used about 3" of my own hair to tie the hair into my custom made wig cap.
They also copied my hair line so I had a slight widows peak (like my own hair) When I needed the lace front to be slightly more customized, they added little hairs around the ears to make it even more like my own hair. I did purchase some extra natural curly hair to make it thicker than my own hair (I would have had the hair donated by a family member but again, no one has long curly hair like mine)
I let them use my photo on the website. I have really curly shoulder length med brown hair. When I was going through my chemo treatments my fellow cancer patients were shocked when they asked my why I hadn't lost my hair yet. When I explained I was wearing a custom wig made with my hair they both just looked like a deer caught in the headlights LOL. The oncology nurses even were shocked at how real my wig looks. One dear woman even commented on how she wished she would have done the same.
I wear it around my children and husband and sometimes sleep in it (I don't like to see myself bald in the morning because it reminds me even more what I am going through) And I never let my children see me without any hair.
To make a long story short, I truly believe that you get what you pay for (and sometimes not). I have seen many wigs in the hospital on women that did not look very real. I also have seen human hair wigs that looked like plastic hair and believe me I felt so bad for these women.
Ask for Vickie she is very professional and she has been working with wigs for over 30 years and it shows. I get a phone call every other week to see how I am doing. They really care.
