I actually joined this company twice, thinking that maybe I should put in more effort and try a little harder. Truth is, while you are getting the product at a wholesale price...it is overpriced for the buyer, therefore very difficult to sale online or by catalog. I have been a member since 2001. Then I left the company in October of 2016 I didn't had any sales for the past 16 years. I did everything Social Media, Social Networking, etc. So can you really make money with Smart Living Company? To be honest with you the answer is "NO". To many competition out there. I started with SMC many years ago for the longest time I used it as my own gift purchasing because the membership price was only $39.95 a year and the merchandise for what it was was very fair in price. I did sell some not a killing but enough to keep me some what interested, But still continued to use them for mostly my own gift giving. I purchased a pro web site. It was suppose to be a money maker although they do not guarantee you will make money. I read a book after going back to school to see what I was doing wrong and found out the web sites they have are the worst format you can ever have for a website. make this your final stop on this issue, trust me all they say is a trap to get you to give them your credit card details and that is how they get you indebted to them. They make u buy gift card by deceiving you that you get $100 worth of gift card after you purchase it. You have to pay $39.95 monthly + a percentage of what ever u make on sale (that is if you ever get the opportunity to sell anything). Their own site plus the sites of their members have been down all day just like several times this month. I was on hold for over 3 hours before I finally hung up today, never finding the answers to two questions: why the network outage happened and what is your eta. This company is a drop-shipper. They are not a reliable source for your retail business, because the products are always out-of-stock for some reason. I've lost customers several times because of this. The customer service is terrible as well. I was able to talk to only one customer service rep in my entire "membership life" with them, who was very nice, and the rest, I can't even call it customer service at all. This company's advertisement about cancelling without obligations is completely FALSE. I agreed to the package to be sent to my house for a price of $24.95. I was informed, if I would not be interested in the business, to call and cancel within 30 days. I've had my SMC eCommerce Website since April of this year and I am very disappointed. I was told that I would NOT need to go to an outside source to get my site visible online. I had one customer in April which thrilled me...and that's where it ended. I was having 50-200 visits to my site almost every day when I was told it had been indexed with the search engines. My wife got involved with SMC upon my request, that she look into the company. I felt that I would be able to assist her with the business, but was unable to join in when she talked to her coach. Please disregard any negative responses posted about SMC. Anyone posting anything bad about SMC were simply naive and uneducated about what they were signing up for. SMC never once tried to deceive me with the terms of the membership. They make it known from the signup call and on of the membership rules. I am impressed with this company. I had read some negative reviews, but something told me to proceed with SMC. I'm glas I did. I have had no high pressure sales from any of their representatives, and dealing with this company has been quick and easy. Shipping is faster than I thought it would be, my being on the east coast. If you decide to try this company and live on a fixed income beware, the person you are talking to will push you to sign up for something you can't afford. Then tell you if you change your mind within a two week period to call her or him back and never answer the phone or listen to their messages and if they do they don't pass on the information to SMC. I signed up to join SMC. when I received the material and what all the cost would be I called and canceled my membership. It was within the 30 days. In the mean time they still are taking money out of my checking account. I live pay check to pay check. I didn't have the money in my account because I canceled and they still was taking money out so I have been hit with 2 NSF fees plus the cost of sending back the started kit. i joined smc in 2007, it started out great, i had a website built which coast me 300.00. No one was ever able to use it. I tried to talk to the technical support which got me know where they said it should work, but i was not able to use it nor were any of my customers that tried numeras times to place an order. I called this SMC corp. several times to join they ended up with my checking account number and debit card number.I was charged twice for my membership package. Since then I have called and talked to I can't count the operaters and each time they will refund my money for the over drawing of my checking account since then my account is over drawn by 245.00 because of extended overdraft fees. I joined SMC in Feb. 08. I did it over the phone, I listened very carefully to everything I was told and I asked every question I could think of. I saw alot of complaints after on Rip-off.com, every one of them having to do with refunds and being charged after asking for one. I had already paid my fee and decided to give it a try.
