The BT-3 collar works exponentially better than the BT-1. As advertised, it basically cured the barking from a stubborn terrier in a couple of days. He still gets out yip or two but is immediately silenced by a single beep, having been made aware than the beep is followed by mild and increasingly severe shocks. Had to return defective collars 3 times in 5 months. The design is great but these MIT design geniuses need to learn about manufacturing. And about data bases. They kept sending the replacements to the wrong address. To top it off, the customer service people turn into robots when asked to solve a problem. I have purchased 3 of this company's electronic pet doors and unfortunately have mixed reviews. While I have had very little problems with the doors themselves, the collars have quite a few issues. We have a large and medium door which we placed into the wall and a medium one for the patio slider, and as I said have had no problems with the doors. The collars, however, are a different story! This company on the surface seems like a great business, and I don't understand all the good reviews. I guess they never had a problem with the product, this is when the true colors of a business come through. Well I am surprised to hear all the negative comments. Got my electronic doggie door and it was the very first item installed in my new home. I was excited my pooch Bagelz age 10 jumped right through the door with complete ease immediately. My friends all call it the "Jetson" door ala tv show from the 60's. We originally purchased the Bark Terminator for our large (50+lb) puppy. It worked great - too great in fact. It picked up on the many sounds our 5 children generated and would go off without her barking. We called HighTech Pet and explained the situation. I love our pet door and so does our dog. Since me and my husband work all day it works really well for us. Our max goes in and out whenever he needs to and we don't have to worry about coming home on our breaks to take him out.Our max is super smart and it took him only a day to get use to it. I was disappointed in the design of the on/off switch button on this collar. It is embedded so deeply down in the collar that we had to turn it on/off with a tool every time. This gets to be a nuisance and eventually the switch was unusable, therefore, I had to return the collar for a new one, which is still designed the same way. Buyers beware!! Engineered to last a lifetime?!? My second door in 2 1/2 years has quit working. I have the large automatic door with the extension for wall adaptation. Yes! I purchased the large battery operated dog door. Ever since the door has been installed it has been nothing but trouble. First the battery charger didn't work. I was sent a new charger and battery. A great idea, but I've spent more money on collars and parts over the years that it is just not worth the money. Works great when it works, but make sure your going to pay 3 time the cost on extra parts. I've have had dozens of collar because they fail and it's not just the battery. I also replace the receivers in the door twice and now it does not work again. I'll have purchase the parts again to keep it working. This product is not WORTH THE MONEY IN the long run. Paul C. I am very happy with High Tech Pet Store. I ordered my electronic doggie door a year ago and did not get it installed until now. It did not work and when I contacted customer service they quickly offered to send me the replacement parts or said that I could return it and they would replace the whole door. I am very upset with the customer service department with High Tech Pet. When ordering the product I was guaranteed full credit if not satisfied with the product and would also be sent a voucher for return shipping as well. That is not what happened. Hitechpet produces very useful products. However, their customer service makes doing business with them risky and problematic. I own a PX-2 large dog door. I bought the high tech dog door in 2006. It has worked only about half of the time since I have owned it. I sent it back once under warranty, and it took a couple of months to get a replacement back. I should have known to give it up when it failed under warranty. Most products will at least make it through the warranty. The dealings with the merchant were excellent. They keep you informed of the progress of the order. The product is as advertised and available at a competitive rate. I did not need customer service but would assume it is fine judging by the rest of the process. It seemed to me that Fed Ex was pretty slow on delivery, but it was during the Christmas season which may have had impact. I would definitely order from these folks again. Read More »

The company does not deliver in a timely manner; ordered a local product 2/24/10; still waiting after 33 days for delivery; 2 delivery dates came and went with no follow-up or contact. This company is TERRIBLE! I was sucked in by their "Raving" customer ratings and I spent a lot of money on and spent a lot of time and energy installing a pet containment system that never worked. LET THE BUYER BEWARE" On 6/22/09 I received the BT 1 shock collar. Their claim to fame is that it will provide a very piercing beep prior to shocking.
