I had a simple food allergy blood test and the doctor told me it was covered by my insurance. I was not told of any charges by Genova prior to receiving a bill from them for $849.59 and this is after my insurance company paid $941.75 to them. My doctor recommended using this laboratory advising that they can do testing outside of the scope that regular labs do. She advised that i would have to pay $250 upfront for a simple igg/ige blood test and that if i was to receive further billing that i should ignore it as they have to go through billing in order to show their attempt to try and collect. Early in 2013 was billed for approximately $640 for a hormonal panel blood test even though I was told by Allergy Associates in LaCrosse, WI that I'd only be charged $150 for the bloodwork, due to an EasyPay agreement they have with Genova. I paid the bill because I did not want it turned over to collections. After I paid it, Genova told me they have to bill me twice, but that I was NOT supposed to pay the bill and then they would write it off because that's how EasyPay works. But no one ev... I recently submitted a urine sample for testing. My insurance paid almost 1100.00 towards the 1779.65 charged for the test. Genova wrote off 528.58 of the fee and sent me a bill for 169.00. When I questioned the amount due, the billing expert told me that Genova charges what ever is considered acceptable in the health industry.
