Bought a trans from them less then 2 years ago. It just crapped out and they now tell me that it had only an 18 mo warranty because of the weight of my truck. Installed their reman engine in my 2003 Pontiac Montana and it blew a head gasket after 19,000 miles. Three months later and doing diagnostics for them, my repair bill from a great shop that charges going labor rate of $100hr my bill was $2.879.43, they reimbursed $1,285, less than half and only allowed $50hr. I bought a long block from ATK though Auto Zone that end up leaking Antifreeze from the head gasket area. After talk with Marco he had me remove the head. Wild dismantling the head I found that they had was not properly torque between four and six cylinders. Two and four or so tight that I had to use a breaker bar To remove the head bolts. Trouble from the start! Started out with a bad water pump , made a claim with a very obstinate claim rep with ATK . Heard nothing back, called multiple times got no call back. I purchased a gasoline engine for my truck remanufactured by LKQ/ATK and it was installed on 6/28/19. The truck had 116,612 miles on it when the engine was installed at a very reputable service shop in my area. I paid $8000 to have a ATK hp engine, after 500 miles the engine the engine quit running. Pulled it apart and rods were in the shape of cresent moon. Picked up a reman engine from our local national parts dealer. It was an A T K reman engine. installed the engine but the starter would not bolt up to it. Looked good and hard at it and there was something wrong with one of the bolt holes. Looked like it was drilled and tapped wrong. Also the block looked like it came from the bottom of the ocean. Do not buy an ATK motor. Google their reviews. I received this motor and the paint job was horrible. Bare metal in some spots. Had to repaint the whole block rather than going through a return process. This should’ve been a red flag. After around 200 miles the oil pan and front seal started leaking oil. The first motor I purchased had bad valves on 3 cylinders. Low or no compression. Clearly a manufacturing defect. I had paid $1600 for the engine from AutoZone. The warranty rep asked the shop to have me authorize another $250 in diagnostics to determine if the engine was really bad. Yup. Still a bad engine. I puchased an ATK engine for my 1994 22RE Toyota and have never been more dissatisfied with a company than I am with this one. Had the engine installed and it didn't last 7 months before the valve seals failed, blue smoke billowing from the exhaust and stranded. As a shop owner, I went against my better judgment and installed ATK products in 6 different vehicles due to lack of availability elsewhere. I have had 6 come backs on every single product! ATK is bar far the worst remanufacturer out there. Then to top it off, their customer service and warranty process is a joke! To get paid is nothing but a hassle. This company was recommended to us by a trusted vendor. We were sold the 1st bad engine with a timing issue. We were sent a second engine that was installed with an internal knock !!! I have never felt so compelled to write a review on a company I have dealt with for years. I do not know what has happened to ATK Engines, but they are not the same company that they used to be. THEY SUCK WHEN IT COMES TO STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS! If you have a warranty issue, they will only pay a shop $50 per hour to fix their poor workmanship. I purchased an HP32 which is basically a Gen 1 SBC shortblock with Vortec heads and a mild roller cam. I haven't found anything wrong but I found the timing chain cover has allen heads instead of regular bolts and the gaskets all read in Spanish. I can't find 1 gasket that reads in English. I want to take a moment to say something here. Last July I purchased a re-manufactured ford 4.6L engine from ATK. At 1200 miles the right head developed a small crack and was leaking oil. I purchased an engine for a 1996 GMC Sierra 2500 which is a 5.7L 350cid and it was defective from start-up!It had noises from the very first start-up. BAD BAD BAD!!! Be prepared to play "pass the buck". We have had our motor replaced THREE times. The first motor lasted 18 months when the teeth on the timing gear wore off. Weeks of tests and hours of phone calls, the motor was replaced. The second motor failed from day one, burning over a gallon of oil a week. I had purchased a Toyota 22RE Performance Engine from ATK for $2,399.00 4 Months after having it professionally installed I lost a cylinder. It turns out that they did not use hardened seats in the head and I had a failure in a exhaust port. We bought a new (re-manned) engine in 11/2009. Late 2010 we started having issues. Took it to 2 different shops and it turned out there was a problem with the engine. They were able to fix it. Since December 2007, I have had two ATK re-built engines installed and both were defective with bottom end noise. ATK replaced the first with a second defective engine with bottom end noise but refuses to refund or replace with a reliable engine.
