I made the mistake of placing a $36,000 ($40k by the end of it) astrophotography order with WH. It went wrong from the start. Because I placed the order over the phone, Farah, the owner, refused to give me store reward points, citing her margins. If I had placed the order on the site, the points would have appeared. I purchased a Celestron Nexstar 130 SLT on Dec. 11, 2010 and was very happy with the assistance the salesman provided me. Same evening I called the store to ask what the return policy was because I found the same telescope and accessories over $150 cheaper with no tax and shipping included. I have been shopping around for awhile for a new SLR digital camera but couldn't find a place that would take the time to really explain the different camera that were available. Until I went to Woodland Hills camera and talked to Steve he was so helpful and patient with me and answered all my questions and gave me great tips....he gave me a great deal on a Canon T1i w/ 18-55 and I also got a 75-300 lens which I really love for vacation shots. I recently purchased a telescope from Woodland Hills. They were extremely honest about the product they sold. They asked a lot of question to find out what my needs are. The sales person was very polite as well as knowledgeable. They have a by monthly event that they hold locally. I went to one after I purchased my telescope and they were very helpful on setting it up and making sure I understand the scope and am able to use it. SALES: The sales aspect of this company was OK in my experience. The people I spoke to seemed reasonably patient, and willing to inform me regarding my curiosities. Whether the information provided was 100% correct or not, I am not sure. I have my standards, and standards are often subjective. After 3 visits I am generaly dis-satisfied with the knowledg of two of the support staff and unwelcoming attitude of them. Was given wrong information on two visits. A simple check by salesman would have avoided these simple mistakes. Read More »
