I could not believe this: I purchased a postage one time only, and stamps.com kept charging me for two years, 24 months, without my knowledge. Feels a bit like a scam, from the no risk 4 week trial period, which if you decide you like it, they charge you for that 4 weeks...to the not so free scale, to the free shipping if you spend over $50...which it turns out, if you read the fine print (confusing to figure out), not much on their site qualifies, including the stamps I ordered!!!! I wanted to be able to print out my certified mail items without going to the Post Office because I live 10 miles from the Post Office can't stand in the long lines there. So Stamps.com sold me the Certified Mail forms to use. I found it very interesting that they did not bother to tell me it cost me an additional $10.00 per month to use the forms. I went to the web site thinking I was on a site where I could make a label to send a package. Realized I was on the wrong site and got out. When I went to my bank account I had been charged for joining for Stamps.com. I called and they were nice and removed from the account. Then I got an email saying that My order was on the way!!! In the confirmation email I was given 3-5 days for the 1st class mail to arrive, the 5 days have passed over a work week and NO package is delivered. They do not refund me for lack of meeting their own Service Level commitment and have the guts to ask me to ship it back to them at my cost to be refunded when My even has already passed and the stamps are USELESS. this is completely unacceptable. (7.6.13) Two problems: First, the program kept telling me to close MS Word ... even after I closed both programs and started the install over again. I'm running a small business and mailing about 500 large envelopes per month 1st class mail via USPS. Not only am I getting a significant discount using stamps.com (free delivery confrimation) , I'm getting an enormous savings in time, organization and record keeping all in one package. The new service from the United States Postal Service, called Stamps, is just brilliant. Saves me a ton of time going and standing at the post office. I've been able to weigh, stamp and send stuff internationally as wel as to the US, envelopes and packages. They start you off with about $50 of free goods plus a great postal scale. I signed up and opted not to get a scale..my manual one is fine. I sent two small packages and wanted to order more postage. I tried two credit cards and it would not authorize either of them. There was a variety of each, so I bought exactly what I needed at a good price, with free shipping, and got them very quickly. I have used Stamps.com for years, as an 10 year eBay seller and personally. I have shipped 1000's and 1000's of packages all over the US, APO and FPO through Stamps.com. Use Click N Ship instead, which is the official USPS online postage retailer. Stamps.com is a corporation in the business of marking up the postage as much as 50 percent and charging a monthly 15.99 fee. I have used Click N Ship for years and years. Signed up to try Stamps.com, but when I saw the 50 percent markup on one service, that disgusted me enough to cancel. The 15.99 monthly charge is a fleecing of the consumer. I had an excellent experience Stamps.com's customer service. I called to discontinue the service prior to the end of the free trial period and the service representative was extremely courteous and understanding. As to be expected, she inquired as to the reason why I am dropping the service. Based on the my reason, she extended the trial period an additional month. I am handicapped, on a fixed income. I rely heavily on Stamps.com because I am not mobile and need to have postal services "come to me". I experienced difficulty downloading the set up information and the customer service rep was patient and assisted me in getting that task completed. The information about there being a monthly charge of $12 only appeared after I signed up; there was NOTHING about it in the CD mailer that came in the mail. I emailed the stamps.com Customer Service address immediately to cancel the account, but got a message back that they don't accept cancellations by email. You have to phone. I recently signed up with stamps.com and I'm glad I did! I no longer have to ask someone to take a package to the post office to be mailed. I printed the offical postage "stamp" for my 3oz. pkg and sent it on its merry way. We use Stamps.com on a daily basis for all our USPS shipping. It is easy to use and inexpensive. Stamps.com saves us many steps and allows us to keep track of postage spent as well as packages sent. Fast signup and setup, nice introductory package, postage purchase is available immediately, and mailing packages - especially internationally - is not made easier anywhere else that I know of. I have not had to use their customer service yet, but I wish I could review it since it's pretty important. On Sep 27, I created a profile on stamps.com and gave them my credit card info thinking I would then pay for some stamps. It turned out I didn't have the paper yet to print the stamps, so I didn't buy anything. I received my welcome packet a few days later in the mail, as well as a few emails about the services. As a one-man band (exec) of a military association time is of the essence. I live about 10 miles from the nearest post office and, using Stamps.com saves me gas and having to wait in line for two or three over-worked postal clerks. Signed up for service to print a shipping label. I did not print end up printing any, and 4 weeks later I was charged $15.99 on my credit card for a subscription. I love using Stamps.com for our mailing purposes. It is easy to use. When I messed up with printing one of my labels the system allowed me to request a refund, which was refunded in the stated time frame. I have a little trouble figuring out how to use one of the labels, but the others move to the next stamp location automatically and print wonderfully. They make it impossible to cancel your account! I have canceled 4 times now over the last year and they are still charging me the monthly fee. Last time I called the lady even said she seen where I called to cancel but admitted they never canceled the account. So she said she canceled it and waived all the fees. I've known about Stamps.com for some time, but was wary about using it. Now that I have, I am glad I did. It is saving me time running and looking for places to buy stamps. I just have to load an envelope or stamp page or label list. I am also happy with the technical/customer service. The service was good, easy to use and very convenient, but when no longer needed impossible to cancel. I am hearing impaired and don't use a phone. This company will accept online orders, does all online business, BUT when you want to cancel you have to call? Not everybody online can use a phone, If you accept online, you should cancel online.
