I thought I needed a new roof, my existing roof is about 20 years old. I called Thomas from Garvey roofing to give me a estimate, he came out and told me I did not need a new roof just minor repairs in a couple of places. I was shocked because 3 other contractors qouted prices from 7000-16000 dollars for a new roof. His employee came out, took care of the touchups, and accomodated our needs. I have an old fashioned Spanish roof with tiles mortared together. To reuse these tiles while re-roofing they have to be cleaned of the old mortar. In the process some tiles broke and had to be discarded. Garvey Roofing made an effort to preserve as many of the old tiles as possible. This is the second job Garvey Roofing has performed for me. The first was a new roof and skylight on a Spanish duplex built in 1925. They recommended a type of roofing system that is used in Northern California. I have not had any problems subsequently. The quality of work (a true work of art) and professionalism exceeded my expectations and the price was right! Mr. Garvey never tried to sell me anything that I didn't need or want. His crew was on time, hardworking, conscientious, courteous and clean. The entire job which included the tearoff took only 2 1/2 days. June 10, 2011 We were lucky having our roof replacement installed by Garvey Roofing in May 2011. Tom is professional, confident, honest and kind. As I've never had the need for a roofer before, I emailed the members of my MOMS Club for recommendations of a roofing company in the area. We hired Tom Garvey when we discovered a leak in our ceiling after the heavy December rainstorms. He was thoroughly professional and knowledgeable, removing several of our heavy cement tiles in search of the source of our leak. We appreciated his honesty in admitting that he could not find the cause of the leak. We used Garvey to replace the roof on our townhouse. Their bid was about 20-30% lower than the other bids that we received. Our adjoining neighbor had a leak that needed to be addressed quickly and although Garvey was busy at the time because it was right at the beginning of fall, they squeezed us in and got our roof done in just a few days. When Mr. Garvey inspected our roof leak he appeared to be experienced, professional, knowledgeable, and confident. Mr. Garvey explained what work was needed to repair the roof and presented some options for the appearance of the new roofing to be installed. Garvey Roofing came out in the rain to patch a leak. When he returned after the rains for a repair estimate, not only was he honest with me about not needing a new roof, he said his patch was secure, and no further repair was necessary. The advertising was first class and the salesman was friendly and responsive. The price was about 10% below the average bid.
