I went to this rehab in 2013 and I could not have had a worse experience, some of the things that went on were not acceptable at all. I have no complaints with them and nothing but good things to say about my experience. Staffs are very helpful and understanding. It’s hard going through detox and withdrawal but they are always there to help and comforting me through the roughest time of my life. They are sincerely concerned about my well-being. I would recommend this facility if you are looking for somewhere to have your loved one. This facility is very clean and relaxing. It’s like a vacation house because the place located beside the beach. Our day to day activities were scheduled with counselors so trusted for their very accommodating and polite approaches. My sister went thru Spencers last year and it saved her life. She had been to many rehabs before (4) but always went right back to drinking and doing drugs. I loved the family groups they have there, it really helped me to understand her addiction. I am happy to say she now has 11 months clean and sober, and has just enrolled in Spencers counseling school! She is going to be a drug and alcohol counselor! Our daughter went off to college and was drinking and doing all kinds of things to get high at these party's , we were so worried mabey she had some sort of dual diagnosis psychiatric disease the way she was acting not going to school or caring about her life or her future. I wanted to take the time to write about my experience with Spencer Recovery Center. I was raised in good home but started experimenting with alcohol & marijuana at a young age. I realize now that marijuana was infact a "gateway" drug for me, but early on I had myself and my family sold on the idea that it wasn't. say what you want about spencer recovery, they saved my life. This time last year i was a mess. i was on my death bed when recoverynowtv.com reached out to me put me in a extremely nice treatment center. On January 19th.2010 we put our son on a plane to Spencer Recovery Center in California. He has been clean for 15 months...We have never looked back only forward. With the help of Mike Cohen and Mr. Spencer our son has become a son any parent would be proud of. I highly recommend this facility. I was at Spencer recovery for 84 days, and it was a great experience for me. I have been at 2 prior treatment centers and one outpatient where I was treated like a scumbag drug addict. There are probably many better options for treatment in the Orange Country area. My daughter recently spent 60 days there and it was a nightmare in many regards. She is sober but by the grace of God and not because of anything that happened at Spencer. While there, there was often drinking going on by both staff and residents. Drugs were used as well. I hate to say it but the other reviews are correct if you research it on the internet.....this place is a joke (and that is very sad given the seriousness of the disease of addiction). Listen I was a client at Spencer Recovery Center Florida. I spent enough time there to know a thing or two about it. Total between two treatments & considerable time in Spencer Sober Living, I‘ve probably spent somewhere around 14months total at SRC. I completed 3 months in Florida, interned and worked as the cook in Laguna Beach for 2 months before being sent back for a counseling school that didn't exist. A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. My son went to Spencer's Recovery Center (Dr. Paul's at the Bay in Florida) and his Counselor, began an inappropriate Relationship with him during Treatment. Be Careful! For everyone choosing recovery center: where person going not much matter, if more costly, money will be spend for more luxury in the living condition. Treatment? Spencer recovery centers is awesome. From that first phone call all the way to the end they were there. I had an interventionist come in for my son. Not only were they there for him they supported the family too. I would recommend them very highly. Family members beware!! This is not a facility that helps the family but instead gets the patient admitted and allows changes to increase the cost of the stay by the patient without checking with the family first. My son had my husband admitted to this facility after he disappeared from us on a family vacation. This is his 5th rehab.
