Went on site and got offer for zero points, zero closing costs and 3.25% rate on mortgage from a lender called Home Point Financial. Called Home Point to follow up and got Dennis Moore who asked a bunch of questions (my credit is over 825, we have no other debt, the loan to value ratio is under 50%, all great answers) and then quoted me 3.5% if I paid a bunch of fees. My credit card was charged $400 AFTER I was denied a re-fi loan, BEFORE an appraisal of my house was ever scheduled. It is basic business ethical practice that one is charged only AFTER a service is provided. The erroneous transaction tied up my cash flow for the appraisal that a different bank did schedule. I was going to refinance my home with Lending Tree. The agent appeared to be very informative, and all went smooth. However, I changed my mind, and left him a voice mail message, the next business day, stating such, and followed it up with an email. I also stated to not debit my account. One week later, he had my account debited anyway. This left a very bad taste in my mouth, and I'm glad I didn't do business with them. Very poor experience so far. The upfront promises were great, but the refi experience has been horrible. Loan of 215k, their own appraised value of 480k on my home currently financed with Bank of America. Thats 265,000 of equity and I am a combined 790 credit score. I have had no late payments in 15 years on my credit, not even a credit card payment late and Lending Tree continues to come back from underwriting with question after question, letter after letter, more documents, more ducuments... Lending Tree Loans was such a positive home buying experience. My agent was very knowledgeable with the process throughout the transaction and made me feel very comfortable.
