Coming from personal experience following is what I would suggest : 1. Do not buy from Dan Golan if he calls you personally, most probably he is dumping on you at high price. 2. Of course, as with any business there is room for improvement. Buyer and Seller BEWARE! I did NOT lose money with Monex as some posters have claimed. Monex misled and outright lied to me about costs when I sold my metal (gold/silver philharmonic). I purchased my metal over 3 years ago and should have doubled money on Silver and had over a 50% increase in gold during my ownership. I have been a Monex customer since 2006. I have traded Silver, Palladium, and Gold with them via their Atlas Program. I have made physical purchases of Silver Coins with them. They are pros. I have read the complaints shown here and frankly I'm shocked. I have done business with Monex and continue to do say. These transactions are $50,000 plus so we're not talking about chicken feed here. I have never had any problems with them. Once in a while ,on a busy day, it might take my representative 15-20 minutes to return my calls. I receive all of my documentation on time and am also cautioned on any and all associated risks. Monex order was made on May 24 and supposed to be based on 4.2% mark up over spot price. However either Monex charged me 5.47% over spot for that time or waited until Gold increased in price and charged me the higher spot price. In December of 2009 I purchased a large amount (for me) of sliver for a agreed upon price which was determined on the phone when a "trader" was patched into the call where the confirmation was made. I just read the one and only review of Monex and I'd have to say that it was probably written by a Monex employee. There is a website on the 'net dedicated to Monex fraud complaints, the CFTC has revoked their membership and thus Federal oversight of Monex's business practices in the Precious Metals Commodities market. I have found the account rep helpful and cautious. A legal question had him refer me to their in-house legal department and it was answered to my satisfaction. I do not expect this company to 'hold my hand' in precious metal transactions.
