I haven't been a member for years. I never gave then permission to mail me at my home. They are trying to extort me for $1 to stop the mails by sending me to another company. I signed up for Bally Total fitness is 2001. It was quite pricy, but I figured since I signed a contract I would stick to it. When my three year membership expired, I didn't renew. For a while I would receive renewal notices and at one point it ended up being fairly cheap to pay for a year. I did this off and on since then. This fitness club is great. I signed up my wife & myself and they would follow up on us to make sure everything was going great with our membership to see if we had any questions, they also gave us a free trial with a personal trainer and everyone here has been great. My favorite part is that they treat everyone the same and no matter how many times we have been there they always treat us the same, with respect & great service. Read More »

I joined Bally's in 1/2010 and my wife got a free six month membership. We did well and lost weight and enjoyed our experience overall. My only complaint was with noisy guest who stood around talking rather then working out. We failed to keep up our progress due to work commitments and resigned without incident. I am seriously considering re-joining without concern. over all my experience was good. It is an older facility but well maintained and clean. Service was friendly and efficient. Read More »

BALLY LOVES TO DECEIVE SENIORS. My mom is a senior in her 70's. Without consulting me (I've read several horrible Bally membership stories on the net), she signed a contract with Bally Club (1628 N. To Whom It May Concern: My experience with Bally's is not a great one! For one the club was not a good one. The Child Care facility was a joke! And the machines were broken, and the tv's never worked. Just like everybody else, I was lied to and scammed by Bally Fitness Center in Culver City, CA. Below is my letter to its corporate office. I sent this email to my credit card company as well disputing the charges. The bottom line, the company responded to me only after my credit card company sided with me and did not pay Bally's. I have tried to contact Bally's on and off again for one full year. The club near my house closed and according to my contract if my club closes and another is more than 10 miles away I can cancel my contract. I have sent letters (more than one) to Bally's containing prof of address, I have sent several emails and stayed on hold with them for hours. My trip to hell w/ Bally Total Fitness began in late fall of 2008. Stupidly, without researching, I signed up with Bally's because it was so close to my job. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. Hi, This Encino location is a dirty, smelly gym. I have called the corporate office, talked to managers, nothing changes. Horrible customer service. Managers have no customer skills whats so ever, and their corporate office does not even have a complaint department where you can speak to someone higher up. Contracts are not as accurate as they portray it to be, and most sales associates lie to get you to sign up as their whole structure is based on commission. Stay away from bally fitness. If you have a dispute, you will not be able to resolve it with anyone because they are not empowered and then are not honest about actions they say they will take. Bally Total Fitness is one of the most difficult companies to communicate with either by phone or email. I had a contract issue and they essentially ignored my attempts to communicate and without warning notified the credit bureau which, to date, has significantly damaged my rating. I have contacted both the BBB and the FTC to initiate a complaint against them. Beware signing a contract w/ Bally's. If you move, or your local club closes down, they will expect you to drive up to 25 miles to another location to work out. Doesn't matter if its inconvenient to you or out of your way. As long as one is within 25 miles of your home you are stuck in your contract. This company has had recent financial problems so don't expect a club that is close and conveneient to you to stay open. Read More »

Bally's Total Fitness are a bunch of CROOKS AND LIERS!! I like many others, was lied to by a sales rep when signing up. I had previously held a Bally Total Fitness membership for Culver City Ballys. Instead of renewing, I canceled my membership upon its expiration. Roughly 1.5 years later, I received an offer from Bally to renew my membership for $99.99 for 12 months. This health club business doesn't know how to deal with customer service.... Their customer service always sucks! I have also had the WORST experience with Ballys. I joined bc it was right next door to my home when I lived in Brookfield, WI. I have been a member of Bally's fitness since 1987. I moved to Long Beach, CA two years ago (2006) and have since been working out at the LB location. Despite repeated complaints of the gyms hygiene, no one in the facility takes responsibility for the gyms cleanliness. THE GYM IS ALWAYS FILTHY.
