My issue with ACT is that I have tried to contact them since August of last year (2010) trying to find out information about my account that I have with them. They fail to send me a statement, letter or any sort of documentation regarding my account. I have no knowledge of my account number, the balance that I owe, or anything else about the account. I have a student loan that defaulted and was sent to ACT. I received a phone call from Mrs. Peitris stating that my wages are about to be garnished due to non-payment. I didn't understand this because I never received any latters stating that I had to make payments. She said that my wife called and gave her a mailing address in Minnesota, but I live in California. I was employed with ACT. I personally did not like the job. I quit. When payday rolled around, I tried to get my check and the head of HR dept. in San Angelo, TX explained to me that because I quit my check was mailed to me from the Corp. Office in CA on a specific date. I waited and never received my check. I called her back and she told me the same thing and that because it was coming from CA it may take longer. ACT stated in the initial paperwork that individuals may not be in a position to pay the full account balance in a single payment. They claimed to be committed to providing assistance in determining the best resolution to my obligations. ACT claimed that their staff was trained to discuss all available options for repayment of my debt. However, I was only given one option.
