I contacted Meade to have it repaired. I followed the instructions provided by Meade and shipped on Nov 17. After waiting more than nine weeks it was returned on Jan 24, 2018. I spent $375.00 repairs and return shipping. For that got a dead telescope, nothing was repaired. No one at Meade has been responsive to my queries. Never again will I make another purchase from Meade. Over $4000 spent and it still doesn't work right. It quit working only 2 months after getting it, so I sent it back to Irvine Ca or so I thought and 2 months later when it arrived at my house, it had " product of Mexico" stamped all over the shipping container. And needed customer support concerning the focusing twist knob. However, after six months being put on hold, told to "call back after lunch, we'll be right with you...RIGHT!, just no help I've gone to other brands with MUCH success. I'm now happy to have another brand and REAL CARING customer service. Here in Japan, even the locals tell me they always have trouble with Meade's rude customer service. It's a shame I like MEADE but can not get assistance.

Oct. 19, 2009: purchased a LS-6 ACF telescope for $1,500. Since that time I have been unable to get the telescope to work properly ( in some cases at all).

Oct/Nov: I could not get a fix on any stars. Nowhere in the manual does it tell how to troubleshoot this. Took a few days to get info to fix this. 

Nov. 24, 2009: The telescope will not center objects in the field of view, but always off to the edge. I tried the instructions for both night and day calibration, neither work.

Two months later, the thin plastic parts that hold the telescope to the tripod are broken. Apparently the securing screw can be turned too tightly and cause the plastic to completely break in two. There is a one year limited warranty, so I call to request replacement parts. They can not help me. Not even when I am willing to buy the parts.  I am told it is a discontinued product. So much for a warranty! Customer service? I pre-ordered through a dealer in early January. I have a good reason to wish to confirm with Meade the shipping date as I have already paid for the product.
