My LX 90 developed an electrical problem. I contacted Meade to have it repaired. I followed the instructions provided by Meade and shipped on Nov 17. After waiting more than nine weeks it was returned on Jan 24, 2018. I spent $375.00 repairs and return shipping. For that got a dead telescope, nothing was repaired. My grandson has a Meade 40 AZ-P Telescope that I gave him as a gift. We can't see anything... as others have said, there is a one year limited warranty, it is a discontinued product and they will not help. Read More »

I made the mistake back when Meade first came out with the lx200r. What a mistake on my part believing Meade's advertising claims. What a piece of crap. Over $4000 spent and it still doesn't work right. It quit working only 2 months after getting it, so I sent it back to Irvine Ca or so I thought and 2 months later when it arrived at my house, it had " product of Mexico" stamped all over the shipping container. I purchased a Honeywell PCR426W Weather Forcaster, which is manufactured by Meade, from Amazon.com January 30, 2010. When it started malfunctioning in August, I contacted Honeywell to return it for repair, and they directed me to send it to the Meade San Diego repair center. I sent it in September 2010, and have called to check on it's status twice. I purchased a MEADE ETX 80 BB. And needed customer support concerning the focusing twist knob. However, after six months being put on hold, told to "call back after lunch, we'll be right with you...RIGHT!, just no help I've gone to other brands with MUCH success. I'm now happy to have another brand and REAL CARING customer service. Here in Japan, even the locals tell me they always have trouble with Meade's rude customer service. Oct. 19, 2009: purchased a LS-6 ACF telescope for $1,500. Since that time I have been unable to get the telescope to work properly ( in some cases at all). Oct/Nov: I could not get a fix on any stars. Nowhere in the manual does it tell how to troubleshoot this. Took a few days to get info to fix this. My teenage son received the Meade 40 AZ-P Telescope as a gift. Two months later, the thin plastic parts that hold the telescope to the tripod are broken. Apparently the securing screw can be turned too tightly and cause the plastic to completely break in two. There is a one year limited warranty, so I call to request replacement parts. It is amazing to me that Meade has blanketed the media, magazines, websites, etc, with ads about their new LS 8 ACF LightSwitch Telescope and yet will not provide or even discuss estimates of shipment dates with customers, like myself, who pre-ordered the product! I pre-ordered through a dealer in early January. I have a good reason to wish to confirm with Meade the shipping date as I have already paid for the product.
