At first we were very happy with our new laminate flooring, with both the quality of the wood and the install was quick and relatively painless. However, as time wore on, we started noticing the laminate loosening up in the middle of the room. I had an in home estimate, and was alerted that I had asbestos tile in a bedroom closet. I was also notified that it "looked" like the glue used under the linoleum had it in it too, but as assured that this would not be a problem. I was specifically told the new floor would go right over it. I spent 2 weeks clearing out the home of a blind elderly lady for her new floors. This morning the installation crew came. I had wood flooring installed in my den, and approximately 4 years later the floor began turning black in areas and smelled musty. During those years, I did not have a pipe break or any other water leakage in my home. An independent inspector stated to me that wood flooring was a very poor choice in that room because it was below grade. I hired Empire Today for their expertise in flooring. Empire Today gave me a written estimate for carpet install. When I told them I said I had received a better offer from Lowes and showed them the carpet that I had gotten a verbal quote on, Empire said they would do a price match if I got the offer in writing. I paid $38 to Lowes to get a written estimate, submitted it to Empire and it was rejected because it was too low! Their sales rep left me a voicmeail and those were his words. This company has poor customer service, delivery and lacks professionalism from service installers. It seemed as if the installers came right off the street! And to make matters worse, one of the installers went into my refrigerator and stole a bottle of water (did not even ask!) I did not discover this until they left and the service worker tossed the water bottle outside under a stair casing! Tacky, Tacky, Tacky! and very unprofessional.
